899 Anybody With A 848/1098 Ridden A Panigale And Not Purchased One?

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by d8mok, May 14, 2014.

  1. 1199 pulled up a quatt bikers café today with termis.Sorry but they sound shite in comparison to my old 916sps with Akrapovic evo full system.Even if im running the standard 50ml termi system is sounds a 100 times better. The reason I love ducati is the mad grunt/ power down low.Without it im not in the slightest bit interested.

Good throttle control and going two up on my rear sprocket makes town riding a piece of piss but wasnt terrible before just a slight improvement.Ive never understood this ' my wrists hurt malarky either'.

Sat on a 1199 at JHP and bars feel very odd to me.Almost exactly the same as my mates zx9r ie more like a touring bike than a superbike. If the 916sps ever shits itself ill be on the look out for a 1098R or 1198R corse edition if I cant find another 916sps for sale.

Wanted to really like the new 1199 but looks odd ( that rear shock is hideous) and noticed today the fuel tank does nothing for looks from side profile, sounds odd and feels odd to me .

Never really liked this style of exhaust either, but just noticed how flippin close that chain is to rubbing. Does it prove to be a problem or is this just an optical illusion? Sorry all, but I just love the booming Termis that stick out my 1098's arse.

  3. Ha! You sound like my uncle who still drives round in a 1979 Ford Granada because modern stuff is shit and they don't build them like they used to. I think they call it progress. Seriously, joking aside I'm with you on the noise, the Termis on the 1199 just don't sound dramatic enough for me at low revs unlike the 1098 which boomed everywhere and the 1199 lacks the low down torque of older model but I'm led to believe the sprocket upgrade sorts this out.

  4. Its the little 'black' bits on the fairings that spoils the side profiles. Paint em red. (as can be seen in pic above in front of shock).

  5. Don't get me wrong I like progress hense I was all over the KTM RC8R parked up and owner was sound.Had a great chat and a sit on it and felt good although seat pad was like sitting on a plank of wood.Sounds great though.

I also like RSV4's and they look nice and sound great.

I guess the pani is a great ride just very different feel on the bars and sound to older 916 dukes.I still think the best sound is from a desmoquattro sps with full akrapoivic evo system.Same as a old Ferrari F50GT sounds better than the new stuff.

I was hoping the 1199 would look very similar to desmosedici. Now there is a bike I want to own in my lifetime. From chatting to many other bikers at the café yesterday the 1199 is a bit of a marmite bike like the 999.

  6. All you noise lovers, have a listen to a SL, it is totally different and very nice, race -bike esque no question

  7. Noise lovers!! Ah, you mean the difference between whistling and the dawn chorus.

  8. hey ! what about that chain rubbing on the pic above?

  9. doesn't happen

  10. Chain dont rub. You can look at these all day and ponder on I like that or dont like that. Ride one like you stole it and it will click what these are about. A race bike made for the road not practible in any way but a holigans rocket ship.
