V4 Anyone Else Been Told Their V4pp Rear Brake Light Randomly Comes On ?

  1. My guess is that it turns off the ACC when it is engaged.

  2. @Veetwin, spent some time in the garage this morning and you are absolutely correct, the brake light is operated by brake pressure and it looks like from both front and rear. I wonder if the pressure sensor is in the ABS manifold. The microswitch on the rear brake pedal still operates the brake light and the amount of movement on my pedal to operate the switch is very small and definitely not adjustable. To confuse the issue even further, there is a microswitch on the front brake master cylinder assembly which doesn't have the steel spring over the plunger and looks like the blade on the brake lever doesn’t contact it at all. More investigation and discussion to be had. Andy

  3. Just found some +3.0 reading glasses and the front brake lever does operate the microswitch, it was just hard to see the small blue piston move in the reflection of the shaving mirror I was using. Whilst I was having another look, I looked to see if the side of my boot might be touching the lever further up the length, away from the toe piece ……. and it looks to be the answer to the problem. Can’t change the size of my feet (very easily) so will see if the replacement return spring is stiffer and if not, look at @razz’s suggestion and look at supplementing the return spring. Andy

  4. Re the front Brake I agree, there is a microswitch there, just a plunger type, but even if the switch is held in the closed / depressed position the front brake lever still operates the brake light. The front lever on mine does hold the switch in and it opens when the lever is pulled back - ACC deactivation again? The front lever on my bike does seems to need less pressure on the lever to activate the brake light but still seems like there must be a pressure switch in the circuit somewhere. BTW I have Ducabike levers on the front but the OEM would be the same.
