A Prayer for Owen Meaney & A Son of The Circus. Both by John Irving and both slow starters while the stage is being set but almost impossible to put down once they get going.
i'v read lots of his books over and over, espadair street the most. i'v bought the Xanth series of books by Peirs Anthony for my daughter for crimbo, I might give them another go, v,light reading. I would love to get a hold of the Adept, and mortal series by the same author again too.
First Light, awesome book, i have it on audio book and listen to it a lot while driving. Also Rich Dad, Poor Dad
No I’m sure he means First Light by Geoff Wellum. He was the youngest Spitfire pilot at the Battle of Britain. It’s a great read & very moving when he talks about how, although he’s had a good life it’s been impossible to achieve those highs again when you’ve flown a Spit in anger at aged 18.
I quite like Bryce Courtenay as an author, particularly Brother Fish, Four Fires, Fishing For Stars, and of course The Power Of One. Then there is Angela's Ashes and 'Tis by frank McCourt.
That's one of my favourites too. Have you read A Rose For Winter (title from memory) - when L.L. retraced his steps through, a very different, Spain along with his wife. A lovely read...
I have read this a number of times and still can't believe anyone survived. It was loosely adapted into the film "Everest" although Krakauer didn't like the film apparently.
A great book for dipping into over again. Best read in the middle of winter with the lights low and the curtains left open. You never know what you might see out of the corner of your eye moving past the window.....
