Anyone Fancy A Week Or So Away 15th April?

Discussion in 'Touring' started by Dave, Jan 6, 2018.

  1. I'm of the same opinion as @Sam1199 when it comes to ferries, the Pont Aven and the Cap Finistaire etc, are infinitely better than the economy ones, I just did a quick search for trip on the 15th, comes out at £459 inc cabin both ways, but you can half the cabin cost if you wanna share a two berth.

  2. We had a night in Salamanca a few years back, lovely city. Zaragoza is well worth a visit too.

  3. And if that fails use the "if you really loved me" one. Works every time :)

  5. Hmm tempting, Crossing is over night and not as long as you think, as for the Bay Of Biscuit that can be a different matter, might feel like an eternity.

Hmm as Tempting it is, I just released I am booked up 13th. 15th April stag weekend shame

  9. 24 hours :beer::beer: In fact Chiz, if you catch the Tuesday Pont Aven from Pompey, it does not leave till about 5pm, so you can get walloped in the bar till 1am, wake up late, have coffee and brekkie etc, arrive at Santander at 5-6pm, go to hotel, go out and do it all again....Tanked 2 nights running, then head out on the Thursday morning (Sometimes a little worse for wear) :D:party::beer:

  10. Yes. 24hrs.
Drink when you get on then sleep it off overnight.
No drinkinking after that though as you'll be riding later that day.

  11. Riding straight to the Hotel Real on top of the hill in Santander if you caught the right boat :upyeah::beer::beer:

  12. @Dave - @Andy800 - @chizel etc etc. Although I have extra time booked in September for another trip, and don't finish till the 18th April for this trip, there is a chance I can still catch the 15th April boat as I have some extra hours holiday left over, so there's a possibility can be off work from 10th April till 2nd May, so in case I miss anything on this thread, can you PM when it's time to start booking the boat and the nightly hotels. A blast over the Pyranees to Barca and back is nice, Santander - Jaca - Barca - Barbastro - Santander etc etc, something like that, is a good trip. Anyhoo, we got any defo takers yet ??

  13. would we also book all accommodation in advance? How much ish? I'm mad keen on the idea but in reality for me, it's only 13 weeks away and I dont get holiday pay
also id need to get the 48 or 900 up to it and break down cover alone is 200ish for a 20 yr old bike... It's a 2.5-3k trip all in...

  14. Mate, I don't think it is that much, unless you're including loss of earnings etc, the cost of the trips are usually about 1200 ish pounds. That is the average cost of a Spanish trip I've spent after quite a few times going. Once we know who's going and we get some definite yes's, hotels and routes can start getting booked. I'm going back in for nights tonight but can post a route and hotels and see what folk think. Or @Dave ,you got any ideas to get ball rolling??

  15. OK @Dave ,can you confirm dates to get started? Boat out 15th April, boat back?? Or are there other preferences for dates?

  16. yea I count time off work as my pay stops but my bills don't!

  18. ?!! You buying a new bike for it??!!

£300 crossing, sharing a cabin; £200 fuel; £200 hotel sharing; speak to your insurer about breakdown, probably £80 incl Europe, all thats left is beer and food... other than loss of earning, but you cant factor that in, or you'll never take any time out ;)

  19. spoke to insurer and anyone who would listen about taking the ss to Italy and the best price was £220 for 10 days .
of course I have to factor in what ever time I have off! Are you mad?
if money is going out but none coming in and I have no money, it's a no go!
also the ss or 48 need work. Yes they need the work anyway but it's still £ that id have to part with before April...
i thought the ferry was £450 odd?
how much would a days booze and food be?

  20. The ferry is 450 mate, but you can halve the 200 cabin costs and share a cabin, which makes 350 both ways. As said mate, its usually about 1200 each trip. The break down is very approx this Chiz

    Boat 350
    Fuel 150-200
    Hotels approx 50 night
Booze and food varying depending how much you nail the ale, but I usually do about 60-80 a day ??

Very approx mate except the boat, hotels and fuel, thats a fair good estimate.
