Just in case you think I'm talking shite this is the back half of my garage where I keep my bike bits. Lathe and milling machine at the back, ac/dc welder can just be seen in the bottom right . Bottle of argon as anyone who knows is a must. and hanging in the left is my full Ti home made exhaust . Now fitted. Aluminium welding . Full engine rebuilds . Its all happened in here. Just need to get a life.
I just messed up something on the zorsts I was working on because I was distracted....can't get a replacement because silly woman lost her credit card and now the account is blocked (just so happens its my account) and replacement cards will take a while to get here.... Sh*t, d*mn, b*gger, blast....
I got a tin of black vht paint will that do? oh and the slot is for a pin which holds it in place once fitted to stop it sliding out.
If it is stainless why paint it? As wotisname said, some p*ss poor quality stainless can be magnetic but the pull isn't that strong....so compare what your magnet feels like on say, a known MS bolt. BTW, if you need a really powerful magnet and you have some old hard drives, take them apart...there are usually two small but very strong ones inside. Does the clip retain OK? Or do you think you need another file? A very small round one? AL
Yep thats what untidy looks like . And I think the R clip goes on the other way round . But I could be wrong .
Got lots of magnets from hard drives laying about as I love taking them apart for some reason no the clip fits fine I tried it earlier.
Only fits that way? Will look again but seems to fit with the sleeve on and stops it pulling off, so..
Yeah sorry picture does not show with the sleeve on, I see what you were saying now but yes the straight bit goes in the slot.
I'm just pleased the idea worked for you..... Next time though (rememebering the safety aspects previously mentioned) try to put the drill in a bench mounted vice.....it will be more rigid than a workmate and the file will cut the excess off quicker as you can push against the direction of the turning drill chuck. AL
Fitted but not finished. Got a spacer exactly what I needed luckily from my brother in laws shed, fitted it and after some sodding about with the faceplate and positioning of the bolts it was finally on, but.... need another bloody bit as the bar which attaches to the top to keep the bike level is too short because I had to move the faceplate to the end of the fixing plate as the gear change was in the way. Long and short of it, need to pay a visit to B@Q and buy a threaded rod which I can cut to size, then job done. for now it's arse is in the air and will suffice for one night
Oops just realised, all I need to do is turn the faceplate around and the hole will be nearer.. so hopefully finished level stand pics tomorrow...
I reckon you are more flash than he is.........you did your job for the cost of a few files........... Got to buy an awful lot of files before you think 'maybe I should but one of them.....' AL....
