Did you check to see the manufacturers spec for the model of car you hired? Given what you said, then they have you at 115mph-ish if the manufacturer claims it's a 100mph entry level car, you might have a reason to challenge it based on the manufacturers own specifications

If the hire company has passed this on to you - pay up. They will chase you until you have and will add "admin" and all sorts of other fees to the original fine.
