Anyone had problems after using ACF50?

WD40 is much better than nothing as is f365. I just find ACF 50 will last for a few washes if I don't have time or forget to reapply. I would say keep doing what you are doing if it works for you but perhaps try acf50 by brush in some areas and compare results after few weeks?

After several years on different bikes I have not had any problems with acf50 but I generally brush it rather than spray so no area is left dripping with it. (too expensive for one thing!)

 

I haven't and don't expect to if it's used properly.

 

I've got the sticky starter button problem, and while I use ACF50 I've never applied it to the switch gear. Interestingly my dealer just offered a cleaning service which involved the application of ACF50, so I guess they don't think it's a problem.

 

I have had the starter button stick, again it was not the contact areas that were the problem,

On close inspection the button was catching/dragging on a bur in the housing and also on the red part of the switch internals, a quick clean up of the edges with some fine wet and dry has solved the issue,

My bike is a 2013 skyhook model.

I read somewhere, possibly on this forum, that the button was sticking as a result of over-tightening of the switch gear on the bar, causing distortion. Might be worth a check?

My starter button has got stuck. No ACF50 applied (not by me). We did have a lot of rain, so its stuck atm. Bike starts as soon as ignition is on and bike is in N or clutch pulled in. Not a bad issue except no menus work as its stuck in 'grip heating' mode. I dont have WD40 with me - try and clean it that way or take the switch apart and check? Any parts that might fly out that I need to be careful about?

 

I wonder if the leaf blower is the problem. As well as blowing water away from your bike, I imagine it would be fairly effective at blowing the water into places it shouldn't be, too. Just a thought.

 

What's the trouble with MucOff (serious question)? I use it on my push irons, car wheels and the Mutley - I quite like the semi-Matt finish it gives to the black bits when dry.

Oh and on topic, my trip reset button played up on last weeks euro trip (plenty of rain) and wouldn't play ball. I have sprayed Halfords electrical contact cleaner into it and it seems ok again?

 

I use ACF50 on all electrical components no issues, i 1st started using it on my boat electrical gear and it was awesome. Its designed for it and does what it says on the tin. Personally I've not seen any issues or heard of any before this thread.

Yes there are parts that can fly out!! I know....they did.

Read my post 10 in from the start of this thread, if you're pre-warned it's easy to prevent and no big deal taking the switch apart enough to lubricate the push button from inside. Having said that there are a lot on here that have had the switch replaced, and I'm having mine done while it's in for the Skyhook sensor recall later this week.
Probably won't make a scrap of difference, but what the hell... it's under warranty, not unreasonable to expect it to work in all weathers? (and mines been in the garage all winter!).

 

I use ACF50 out of a spray can (about 14 quid a tin). Get it warm (airing cupboard is ideal) and then it is not sticky. I tend to spray it into a cloth, quote often the cloth is soaked by the time I am done. That way I can wipe it where I want to and leave the bits I don't want it on. Not had any trouble so far at all. It is one thing I now swear by.

 

I use the pink one, sold as a push bike cleaner. Just tried to read the label, but even with my glasses on, the print is too small :Watching:

 

Should've saved some of that concrete for an access ramp. (Or can you get a Gov. grant for disabled access facility. )
