  2. It's always been like this though. Whether it be standard paintwork, imported, matching numbers, service history, they all influence what someone will pay for something.

Like yourself, it wouldn't particularly bother me if something had a little story behind it, as long as I fully understood what it was. If I paid less for something because of something listed above, I'd expect it to be worth less in the long run. You pay your money and take your chances. That being said, it's nice to have something nice and origianal.

This for example. RC30 - 1500 miles Seriously cheap for what it is because it's an import. I'd snap it up in a heartbeat.

  3. I think id like a bit of history myself....it would have been nice to see it have a life with a paper trail. Ie my old mans 400/4 has every bit of paperwork that's been attached to it in a binder...every MOT, every service and every receipt for every part....that might just be me though as I appreciate the 0 miles bike command the highest coin...I think theres an out of the crate zxr750 (20 years old) on ebay at the moment...

I must be in the minority I think eg if I saw an LC350 restored but with say upside down ohlins, custom racefit pipes, filters etc etc id take that like a shot over a stock restored one...

  4. Me too, but you pay the premium. I prefer to pay the premium, but I would consider buying something left field as long as I was happy with what was going on and the price was reflected accordingly.

0 mile bikes must be frustrating as their value lies in the fact they haven't been used. You can't use them without wiping thousands off what you paid for them.

  5. Got £6500 for my red and white R1 (the one with the manly red seat). Will only go up in value, and maybe a good selling time would be 2018, the 20th anniversary of the R1?

  6. just ordered BRAND NEW part for my red seat 4xv from Yam dealer - 40% cheaper then the same part which is listed on ebay USED!

  7. Always always check new prices before buying , one guy was asking to buy a second hand front sprocket nut till i told him a new one was £10 from fowlers !
i bought a second hand Harris filler cap for £40 delivered & then found they were £40 brand new on the Harris site :tearsofjoy: although not inc delivery

  8. So... as a consequence of a deal I just did I have this sitting about, wondering what to do with itself. It's in pretty nice condition and came up lovely after a bit of a polish. I'd snag it on having a horrid aftermarket chrome front reservoir cap, a smoked screen (I have the original), a Scorpion can (I have the original) and it's had its rear mudguard cut. 5JJ with 19k on the clock (and climbing because it's fun to ride) and a ticket until next July...

What's it worth? Last of the carb'd R1s etc etc. Rode amazingly after putting all of the suspension settings back to standard. Quick old bus!

(PS: the tyres are ex track-day ones, and since this was taken I've managed to wear it back to a more reasonable 1/8" of reverse chick-strip after a spirited post-clean-and-checkover ride yesterday :D)

(PPS: it's too fast for the cat, she's not included in the sale)

  9. Nifty... Your garage looks like your kitchen... If it is your kitchen then you must be single.... If your not single and married then you soon won't be :)

  10. looking very clean mate and i love the 5jj's

  11. you guys up north got too much space. massive kitchens ,garages and land.
we down here have tiny garages, no land and little houses.
maybe it is time to move out of town?

  12. No, no... it's terrible up here. You won't get even passable gelato and can be often more than seven miles from the nearest almond croissant!...
