916 Approx Value

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by Mattt, Jun 14, 2020.

  1. Great history by the sounds of it, so may be worth spending a bit. But.... You could spend a load and not get it back.

  2. I dont have the eeprom or the biposto seat, although I doubt anyone would put standard pipes back on or the rear footrests.
I will of course try to sell on here , ebay is my last resort for anything !
Unless a dealer has a Hyper or a monster and gives me a good deal for it ,although I try to avoid P/X as well if possible.

  3. I have a spare BIP seat if you decide that you need one to assist any sale.

  4. This is one of those selling ironies. People want standard, like bip seat, then first thing hey do is take them off and try and find a single seat!

  6. Just noticed your post further up ,I can find out about him painting. 2 sets at the same time,it might work out a bit cheaper to do 4 wheels all at the same time

  7. I think this is good advice. I’ve been looking for a 916 for a while now and after following both Car & Classic and EBay for some time finally closed a deal on one a week or so ago at not much more than this. Same age, marginally more “original” in terms of some of the features. Came with biposto and mono seat, termis and original cans. I’ll post some photos when it’s delivered.

To answer the question as to why some buyers would buy a 916 over a 996/998 at a similar price I can only provide my own perspective. I used to commute up to London every day (130 miles round trip) on my Triumph Trophy/Moto Guzzi V11 Le Mans/Ducati 900SS every day during the late nineties and early 2000s (and still have the 900SS). I have vivid memories of the early 916 bikes that I used to make way for and the Porsche C4S’ I would pass. I admired them both and now, almost, have one of each in my garage. I love riding/driving these bikes/cars, working on them and just admiring them. For me it isn’t about the latest/fastest/most exclusive but just about what makes me smile.

  8. Must admit I'm the same ,I wanted one in 1994 , it couldn't afford one
Ive had mine sat next to my desk at work for the last 3 years ,occasionally dusting it !
I actually rode it this weekend for the 1st time ,I've probably owned it 5 years I bet

  9. It’s the reason I bought a 1098S & not the 1198. I get the later one is (a bit) better but it isn’t a 1098 & that’s the bike that made my jaw drop all those years ago. Can’t explain it any better than that.
