Aragon Gp (spoilers)

  1. Chantra was apparently crying with happiness which of course I totally get it’s the goal for a young rider to arrive in moto gp isn’t it but surely something in the back of his mind is going hang on a minute what am I going to bring to the party that no one else has yet? Am I ready? Am I going to suffer?

Ogura, the same. Except he also said he was going to stay in moto 2 until he’s won the title not so long ago (has far more credibility than Chantra of course).

    All a bit harumph.

  2. Always said it would come under extenuating circumstances. Fair play to him though, as much as I’m anyone but him, it must be some relief after all that time.

  3. Superb front row from JD96, hope he can bring it home and close the gap even more to the top after Garcia and Ogura suffering injuries.
    Garcias high side , woweee!!

  4. Marquez was brilliant. Was it because of the surface or because he qualified well and didn’t botch the start? Interested to see how he does tomorrow.

  5. I’ve been here before with s lowes and I don’t want to jinx anything but I honestly think Jake can win the title. Needs to stay clear of lunatics like Oncu tmrw at t1 but he’s got at least.2 of a second over the rest of the field in the final sector in “race trim”.
He’s one of those people who seems to really like proving people wrong too so fingers crossed he does a reverse Danny Kent and comes from way back to win the title in Valencia.
    Imagine the tears :joy:

  6. He adapted to the surface/lack of grip far quicker than everyone else from the get go yesterday.

  7. The cynic in me would say they relaid it for him and the conspiracy theorist in me would say he paid for it.

  8. A bit of everything then.

I think it’s impressive. To maintain the desire to win over this amount of time is equally impressive.

  9. Apparently, a new surface is being laid at Brno this year.

It’s one of my local tracks and it will be interesting to see how it is. I’ll have done probably around 2,500km there this year.

  10. So no extenuating circumstances then. Just rode better (by a mile) than everyone else over the two days so far.

Super chuffed for JD. Fingers quietly crossed.

  11. Lucky you! What a great track that is. And the people working there are great too… :):upyeah:

  12. Pecco was saying he doesn't understand how MM does what he does on that front end.

  13. He clearly has something at this track.
To take nothing away, I wonder if he can show that kind of ‘different league’ speed on more normal, clockwise circuits. Since his big off he has not been as good on right hand corners, due to the injuries he had. Just a thought.
Track conditions have clearly been changeable and very hard to asses for all riders so far this weekend. Sunday is going to be very interesting!

  14. Steve Parish’s least favourite track. Of all time.

  15. Extenuating circumstances as in a newly laid track with zero grip and heavy overnight rain washing any previously laid rubber away.
see also Honda qualifying straight into q2 for the only time this season.
If grip levels had been normal he wouldn’t win that race without pecco and Jorge falling off.
Half a seasons evidence of that already.

  16. Unless they’ve “turned the wick up” on his bike of course.

  17. I dont know about that ^^ but watching Bagnaia passing Fabio down the straight was an embarrassment for Yamaha. So far off the pace. Just swapping position each time the Ducati throttle was opened..
Wonder if FQ will regret his choice of taking the money, instead of looking for a competitive ride in years to come? Cant help but feel he would have been a perfect fit for Aprilia.

  18. I agree and disagree. I don’t think any of that could be classified as extenuating circumstances. It’s the same for every rider, just like if it rains. I think extenuating circumstances would be if competitors were unable to start, or had a severe penalty imposed. Or all crashed out. I’ve said before that I’m not a massive MM fanboy but I think he is exceptional (one of if not the goat) and exciting.
His winning yesterday at a canter can only help the sport, right?

  19. That was my definition of extenuating circumstances when I said he would t win a race unless there were nutty track conditions or others crashed. Hes always been head and shoulders above anyone when it comes to one off races, which this clearly is.
That first flag to flag race where we first saw him spring from one bike to the other while everyone else was climbing off and on the first example that springs to mind.
As soon as they mentioned the track had been relaid and there was zero grip on Friday you knew straight away he was going to win, before he’d even set his first lap time.
As I said earlier, fair play.
