The older I get the drier it has to be........... Need to go across town for a meeting this afternoon - want to take the pani but heavy rain forecast - going to take the car.
I seem to remember Jules wouldn't roll his out of the garage if there was even one small fluffy white cloud on the horizon!
I use a VFR for commuting & business miles. My 900SS then gets to stay clean and shiny and in varying states of "being fettled". I find this gives me the best of both worlds, I get to love owning my Ducati and I get to be a motorcyclist too
I've ridden four Monsters throughout whatever the weather over the years and my GT1000 is about to start its second winter, ACF50 is great stuff for the winter. I just love riding the things.
Mine is now one of only nine 600 Supersports registered on the road in 2013, so worth looking after and keeping away from the salt and shite.
Won't ride mine when the salt has been put down either. I have no problem riding it in the wet or the cold thou
I rode in the Rain yesterday, was pretty scary but still loved it! later on in the day I went out to wash the bike and it was much nicer weather so I ended up doing another 45 miles I agree though as soon as the salt is down I am not interested.
The answer to your question would be 'sports bikes yes, but multis and tourers and monsters live year round'
I did a few miles in the rain today and bizarrely I quite enjoyed it, it wasn't quite enought to really wet the roads but still a proper shower, I feel like a proper every day biker now!
I tend to ride all year round. You just need to spend the time cleaning, lubricating and protecting every part of your pride and joy! Oh, and wearing the appropriate gear!
I wont go out in the rain intentionally, however, not afraid to get it dirty either. Needs a wash actually come to think of it.
Hmmm... All very interesting... From my own perspective - I don't take my Laverda out in the rain ( I don't like the amount of time it takes to get it clean again afterwards ) but I will quite happily ride my ST4 in any weather; mostly because I never actually clean it anyway, so it doesn't really matter...
my answer re ducati superbikes is no...let me qualify that Summer is a pejorative term, and is simply not an unequivocal clarification, to wit, it may still be pissing it down every down of the fookin week. A summer bike? No. A bike to be taken out when the ground is utterly bone dry, its warm, little to no cloud, zero chances of showers? Maybe.
all weathers on my mutly 03 wash it down and lube it after wet ones .if you dont use them the belts go brittle and it looks tidy still maybe the engine bit grubby but thats a bugger to clean . just love riding bikes. getting in the car is boring dull weary
