Update The velocity stacks and filters arrived today. I have removed the airbox and they are now fitted. It was a very quick job with the only minor sticking point being problematic access to the small bolt which secures the front of the airbox meaning that I had to drop the rad a few inches to get at it. As you can see from one of the pics, I was so keen to get on with it and to take advantage of the break in the horrible weather that I didn't even get changed out of my (chalkstripe 3 piece) suit when I got back from court. Pics to follow, as they may be useful for anyone else thinking of doing a similar mod. There's now loads of space to relocate the battery, so it's now onto the next stage - the fitting of the 748 tank. Bike runs perfectly. The foam cells are very open so I'm definitely going to rig up some sort of secondary filtration (ie: cut up a a pair of my girlfriend's stockings and cable tie them over the other filters). Out for a proper test ride now. Monster S4 velocity stack on the left. 916 stack on the right. It isn't really clear from the photos but the S4 one is marginally longer although with a much less flared bell mouth than the 916 stack S4 airbox and stacks removed 916 stacks fitted Filters fitted to 916 stacks Side views Thanks everyone. Once again the advice and just bouncing ideas of people has helped me resolve an issue that was holding my project back.
Ha. Yes. Though I could have done with it towards the end of the job as it started chucking it down again.
I realised I had taken a better pic of a comparison between the S4 and 916 velocity stacks. The S4 stack is on the left.
