Ask The Boss! Ducati Uk Managing Director, Tim Maccabee

  1. There seems to be problems with some of the multis
What are Ducati plans to rectify and give back some faith to the customer
If I was an outsider looking in I would be put off buying a Ducati and would look elsewhere

It shouldn't take a Ducati forum to keep these peoples spirits up when spending a great amount of money

  2. I think that should be worded "What are Ducati's plans". I'm sure Tim can only report back/deal with HQ and report market/product issues. Ducati engineers have to find engineering solutions.

  5. Is it not possible to ask Tim what Ducati's plans are? I'm 100% sure that Tim can do absolutely bugger all about improving manufacturing of any models as he doesn't run design/production. However he can highlight issues and keep bringing them up till they come up with solutions.

    Am I missing something?

  6. Will DP make the MotoGP wings available for my Panigale :imp:

  7. Shouldn't that be for Tim to reply
Maybe he can't but maybe he has some inside knowledge
Unless you know different how can you answer for him :)

  8. You're correct, I can't but regional offices are just that. Regional. And it is their job to market and sell product in their regional market.

You may as well ask the CEO of Ducati in the US what he is going to do about putting things right.

  9. But this is ask Tim and that's what I did
He may well ignore my question but it's a question I asked him

What shall I ask could I have a pink scrambler with fluffy tassels

  10. Think I may just go ask David James at Ducati :)

  11. The point I am making is that Tim is the head guy here in the UK and as such represents Ducati. Clearly he doesn't have detailed design input but we are his customers and as such he is not only responsible but accountable for Ducati here in the UK, and the buck stops with him.

Ducati makes great but flawed bikes, there comes a time when excuses just don't cut it. When are these issues, some of which have been around for some time, going to get dealt with. My own dealer has been great and fixed a number of relatively minor issues both in and out of warranty but each one is another irritation to be honest.

My Multistrada is my first Ducati. Do I want to go out and replace it with another when I know that the price to change is going to be eye watering and there is likely to be another list of irritating problems for my dealer to sort out. Complexity is great when it is new, works and in warranty but the downside is expense and reliability issues in the longer term.

I am prepared to pay a premium price but I want a premium product.

  12. Perhaps Rob should have made it perfectly clear to avoid manufacturing issues & given strict criteria on what we could & could not ask.

Whilst trying to secure a discount on your next bike is commendable ET, maybe Tim should be given the opportunity to respond.

Allowing an element of free speech/ thought & remaining a little more impartial may be a more useful role for a moderator than correcting grammar?

  13. You can ask him anything.
It's just that you might not get a reply, which is fair enough.

Oh. I assume you have a new moderator lined up, have you?

  15. It's all a bit PM Q's or Question time, where the questions are vetted, as to not upset the apple cart.

Real life questions from die hard customers, wanting to know about true issues they face owning a Ducati. That's what we are interested in, not will the new Stoke dealership have one toilet or two? At least more regional dealerships mean less miles to travel for warranty returns.

  16. Just to be clear there are no vetted questions. I've only removed posts that add nothing to the discussion and to maintain a level of decorum, just like the post above this one!

@AirCon decided to remove all of his posts with questions to the Lounge thread.

  17. Isn't it best to run the q's by the DSC too?

  18. Who is that?

  19. DSC? That's the club that is all about a race series that features Ducatis from 2005 or before?

Yep, I bet Ducati are all excited to hear from that Club!

  20. But their top Honcho's get invited to the Presidents meeting in Italy. So they must have some kudos. Did Rob and ET get an invite?
