  1. Looking good mate. Brings back memory's. you leaving the ECU in the same place or re locating it?

  2. Cheers mate, the ecu is right where the rear tank mount needs to be, im going to see if i can keep it in the same location, albeit with a new mount, if not its going to have to go in the tail.

  3. It's such a large box it's a pain in the arse to find space, or a position where you cant see it.

  4. Exactly, its the same with the crankcase breather box although I may just bin that...

  5. My bikey runs very happily with a k&n jobbie!

  6. cheers mate, have you mounted the K&N on the crankcase or did you relocate it to the tail with a length of pipe?

i've done a bit of reading on the subject and if i was going for absolute performance then i would be trying to keep the box, this bike is more for a bit of fun so i don't mind missing out on 1 or 2 bhp at the top end of the rev range (plus i'm binning the air box in favour of pipercross cone filters for looks so i couldn't pipe it back anyway)

  7. that's nice

  8. Just stuck it on the crank case. Never been any bovver...:upyeah:

  9. So where are you going to cut the frame? If I was going to do another one I would of gone at more of an angle. I thought this pic may help you out.

  10. Funny you should mention that, I was looking into it today!

This is what I have come up with after taking some measurements, excuse the dodgy paint mockup.

the pipe running down either side of the length of the seat unit is to support the rear of tank and give me somewhere to hang / support the ECU and electrics for the rear light and indicators etc.

I've managed to remove all of the loom today too, it looks like I should be able to mount all of the fuses and electrics inside the frame towards the front of the bike or tucked up inside the alcove under the tank.

  11. Looks good. I did exactly that on mine but had to put small supports where the centre of the seat pad goes because I found when I sat on the bike the seat pan and tank flexed at the joining point if that makes sense. I used an ss front nose frame which was so much easier to fit. All the electrics/ fuse box fitted in the same position. I just cut an inch off the bottom of the frame to fit inside the fairing. Hope this helps.

  12. Yeah that makes sense, i was hoping to avoid that really as i like the look of the gap under the seat but if it flexes too much i could always look at an angled brace from the rear of the bike...

the SS front frame is a great idea too only i'm not going to be running a fairing, its going to be as naked as possible. i'm going to make up a panel to fit on the base of the frame behind the headstock and try to mount the electrics there. it may take some modification of the loom to look neat but i think it will work.

  13. Progress has been a little slow over the last couple of weeks as I have been waiting for some parts from the states and I spent last weekend smashed at Creamfields
Today I've fitted the new swingarm and rear wheel, the original swingarm was an absoloute pig to remove! I snapped 3 sockets trying to get the bugger off.
Anyway I think the new one looks the dogs danglies :upyeah:

    Attila top yoke 002.jpg

its in with the anodisers at the moment with a few other bits and pieces, fingers crossed I will have it and the 1098 front end fitted soon

  15. Looks great. I really like back wheel.

  16. Hi, I'm curious about that upper triple as I'm fitting a Superbike (999R) front end to a 900SS and need a 36mm offset upper triple. A Superbike one wont really work because Superbike upper triples have that Tang for the Steering Damper, and that fouls the tank.

What offset is it and what sort of money was it? Was it off the shelf or made specifically for you?

    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers,
    Hamish

  17. Hi Hamish,

this one is a one off made specifically for this project but Mark has all of the necessary jigs to make another one easily enough, as for the offset it's 24mm (I think, standard offset for a ST?). I couldn't use Superbike yokes as the offset is too large on them and they would totally wreck the handling.

He has done loads of stuff for SS bikes though, he runs a 900SS Streetfighter as a hire track bike and if I remember correctly that one has a custom top yoke. Give Mark a shout (MADASL on here), you couldn't meet a more helpful man!

    Cheers

  18. Thanks Rich. Got it! Much appreciated. Hame. =)

  19. Well I have finally managed to get a bit more done, today I fitted the custom top yoke, 1098 forks and the 999R front wheel.

    Yokes on

The top yoke is brilliant quality and the fit is perfect, Mark at MADASL has done a fantastic job and I'm really happy with how its coming together.

  20. I used the exact same set up on my '94 ss. If you mill the tang off, you can happily use the 999 top yoke on the 900ss - it just clears the tank catch.
