959 Austin Racing Slip On

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by evoarrow, Mar 8, 2016.

  1. looks like its been designed to blow the heel off your pillion!

  2. Have a look a Competition Werkes in the States. They do lovely cans for Monsters. Most likely do one for the 959 Pani. Yes that is the correct spelling 'Werkes'.

They also do various colours and combinations. £350 ish.

Mind you, even a bean can would look better than the standard cans.
I just had to laugh when I saw them at the November bike show. In fact I'm still laughing at them now.

I have a theory that any bike previous to the Euro 4 emission law or whatever it's called, will be sought after because it won't be strangled or ugly.

I also think Ducati decided ' right, we'll make it so f'ing ugly we'll sell loads of aftermarket pipes instead'.
A bit like the Pani seats and mirrors, totally useless.

At this point I feel the need to say despite these minor gripes I love my 'Pornygirly', but then again I've got the 1199 with Termis. Happy days. image.jpeg

  7. there's nothing up on their site for the 959 but the 899 cans are :hearteyes::hearteyes::hearteyes::hearteyes::hearteyes::hearteyes:

  8. Japanese spec? Believe so, it's totally horrendous, MUCH worse than the 959! What the hell is that ridiculous clutch cover!! I know it's for noise but OMG!

Anyway, we keep hearing rumours it's a v4 to replace the 1299... Obv as they are selling SO well at the mo in the case of the RSV4

  9. Sure the 1199 is a road pig? Doesn't that thing need a boot in the ass to get moving?

  10. You can spot the future classic owners all pining for the fanni. Ain't happening ladies. Not in your life time.

  11. How's that BMW treating you? Stock pipes look shit on that, but some decent side pipes are nice. Seen a red and black one in a dealers. I think it was the RR, couldn't make it out with all the dust on it.

  12. mint mate thanks got nearly a 1k miles on so far , had ours down bowkers for service last week but a cleaned mine first , so prob not ours, yeh can is big but shame it doesn't fit the 959, as they would be sold out as replacements :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy: , not sure what can to put on so just std at the moment, like the akro full system but don't no if a wanna get into re fueling etc,

  13. Apparently the pic of the AR can is just a straight swap for the ugly original, they also do a slash cut under belly system to fit ??.

  14. What, a BMW pipe on a Ducati, wash your mouth out. I like the RR, a lot.

  18. My brother has just bought a 959 last week and has had me searching all over for exhausts but apart from AR no one has anything yet.

Yesterday his AR can arrived, thought it was an empty box it was that light.
The welds visible in the original photo are not there. That was the pipe they were using to get the angles right to clear the footrests and swinging arm.

The angle the pipe exits the silencer box limited what would and wouldn't work hence why they made it similar to the Rsv4, S1000RR, ZX10R etc versions. Everyone appears to love the designs on all these other bikes and I think why people are wary of them on the 959 is because Ducati haven't had exhausts like this that sweep up the side on their sports bikes for years, 888,851 era I think.

We specified something different when ordering so once he comes around I will take some photos and my usual YouTube video and post them up.
It took him 5 minutes to remove the originals and fit the AR but he has the rear footrests to remove and try the different angles that you can get by turning the link pipe.
He said the originals were much lighter than he expected and lighter than the 899 originals.

None of us are going to like exactly the same but let's see what this is like when I see it in the flesh.

  19. looking forward to seeing the results

im not too fussed about changing mine until one worthwhile comes along but very interested to see what this final production version is like as i like this exhaust on the RSV4 etc

i think the 959 cans are quite light, its the silencer under the engine which holds all the weight- the OEM akrapovic only saves 1.5kg or something - It would be interesting to remove this silencer at some point and see what gains are made!
