Back After Accident

  1. A narrowboat is a pretty slow get away vehicle if that's your intention...

  2. I wish you well on your escape Perry, hope it goes according to plan.
Like your thinking re: narrowboat. had access to a few in the past but never owned one. Probably worth a dedicated thread? - I look forward to reading about.

  3. Been home for about two weeks now. My brother stopped my EE account as it was pointless paying when nobody was here. Now EE treated me like a brand new customer with new landline number and new internet connection hub - so still haven't sussed why my computer won't connect to the internet (a Netgear wireless hub is involved but won't connect now - need to suss out what is going on) so using a (very) long cable ATM.

Getting physio still and my physio lady visited the local gym. Se wasn't that impressed (I think that the emphasise there is more bodybuilding with weights) so she recommend an exercise bike. If she recommends the one that I choose, then the other side will almost certainly agree to pay (as they pay her). Cheaper than gym membership

She did want look round my garage and I asked her if she liked Ducatis (the ST2 ia in there in bits). She said that she hates bikes as she has seen too many people recovering from injuries from bike crashes - including me!

What she was looking for was nuts & bolts. I can practice screwing up nuts with my left hand whilst watching tele. My type of physio this as it is nice and relevant.

Still mulling over replacement bike but may just get current bikes back on the road. When I am feeling brave, then I will see if I can lug ST2 out of garage. I will ask for physio help here because it would count as relevant physio training!

  6. Great news Perry, you're living proof you can't keep a good man down. Home at last - you must feel great. Genuinely pleased for you.

  8. Ooh, Matron! :joy:

  9. Echo the above, it’s great how you’ve handled not just the accident but all the shenanigans since. My advice for what it’s worth (it’s worth nothing, make your own mind up ;)) would be to straddle that hossie again as soon as you can. I’ve heard many a tale of people never getting back on two because at least in part they left it too long. All the best for a speedy recovery now.

  10. Agree with this, I took about 6 months to be able to get my leg over the bike after doing my back in and was determined (as well as a bit concerned as to the outcome) to get going again - MOT was the goal - great progress Perry, keep going

  11. Though if the situation arises, I'm sure we can rely on you to exercise good judgement!

  12. Now what’s going on there Jez? I’d say she has almost zero body fat & yet something just seems out of place. Can’t quite put my finger on it?

  13. You are standing too far away from her?

  14. Stairs are fine. Part of physio work is learning to walk up and down stairs normally, rather than one step at a time. Good relevant physio.

  15. It's very weird but I know that my physio won't read this as she hates bikes! She's lovely but I would never try anything on with her. She could put me on the floor with one finger as she knows just where my shoulders are weak. She has read my medical notes and will know just where a sharp jab to the leg will stick me back in hospital. The last injury is well-explained as a motorcycle accident but one from trying it on with the physio would not go down well with family!

  16. Going down to the garage really pees me off now - I keep finding bits for the S4r :confounded: I will post in the For Sale section when I've done a proper check. I have these if anyone is interested (for a 2005 Monster S4r):
    Seat
    Seat Cowl (red/white)
    Original Clear Screen
    Cam Belts (new)
Tool for adjusting chain (Big wrench for moving wheel round eccentric)
Would prefer pick up from Berkeley, Gloucestershire as posting may be difficult (for me to walk them up to PO.

Everything a tenner plus postage (as incurred) if we have to.

  17. Stick a proper advert in the sale section.

And great to hear that you’re back home!

  18. Had an appointment at Southmead Hospital today. First of all, x-rays were taken of my leg and the radiologist was intrigued by my leg and hip. She showed me the x-rays of my left leg and hip (replacement). I was quite shocked as to how badly I smashed it and the metal work is intriguing. Jeez, I'm lucky to still have a leg! Amputation was considered and I'm lucky that it is all still there. Don't try to save money on bike kit. I've only got boots now but when/if I ride again, I'm going for the best that I can afford - or even not afford!
