Back On Two Wheels With A Diavel

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by Harlequinn Rider, Feb 10, 2016.

  1. I had an 1100s before that with ironically 1100 miles on it when I bought it... Front cylinder had made a start on stripping itself...

  2. B*gger me.....I must have just got lucky with my Multi!

  3. Must have... Last year I was looking over a brand new demo monster at riders in bristol.... 900 miles and chalky brake caliper bolts.... Quizzed the salesman and his reply was.... "well.... Its a ducati isn't it"

  4. Interesting, and though I don't have a garage and don't ride it much through winter I am still buying one! My heart is set on a Diavel and that's what I am getting. Am going to invest in a decent cover (some Oxford Stormed jobbie), for security am getting CCTV installed next weekend.

I had a question about after market exhaust, I have always liked the Akro exhaust but don't like the look of them on a Diavel... Termis seem to be the way to go...just can't get the Akro out of my head. Any advice.

  5. Neither of them are bad but its more a case of "Termi's just go with a Duc" it is scripture....it always has been...termi's if it was me...

I'm not saying don't buy one, far from it - I'm duc-less at the moment but ill definitely be getting another one...its just other other half getting in the way...apparently "3 bikes is too many"....

If youre outside then definitely, definitely invest in a good cover....apparently those ones with a hairdryer built in are really good...I took a friend to pick up a 1200 dorso from Wales a couple of years back and in the garage the lad had a 1990 CBR600 that just look like it rolled out of a showroom....he owned it from new and said that no matter what it went back in the bag with the air thingy going until is was dried out and ran it 24/7 in the winter and in wet weather...

  6. Ive just noticed youre in the States.....probably Texas or California where you have to fly to another state to see rain...well, not over here in old Blighty....it rains, its cold and more often than not it rains and its cold and its damp....a lot of the time...which is not a good mix for the poster paint quality of ducati's bikes....

  7. Thanks for the heads up; i'm not in the States btw why, not sure why you think that's the case...i live in SW London!

I am worried about my bike being outside the whole year round...in the summer it will be fine but in the winter not sure what's going to happen. I will have a decent cover and will of course keep it well looked after, but right now there is nothing more I can do but put it under a cover.

  8. Not you....the other lad....!

  9. I'm in the states at the moment but my Multi lives in darkest South Wales so trust me, it's seen a LOT of rain! I must admit, I do keep it pretty clean though, and don't leave it stand more than a day or so if it's been ridden in bad conditions and is filthy.

  10. Well, in that case your very lucky. Next duc I get the motor will be stripped and recoated as the next one I get will be a keeper.

  11. Welcome

  12. Ok...so about 2 months on from where I left off and this weekend I should be going to collect my new Diavel Dark...cant wait. I will get some pics up next week; just getting insurance sorted...got a great deal with Ducati Insurance, i did find it cheaper with Go Skippy but their reviews put me off.
I do have a question about bike safety courses and if they have any impact on your insurance. I am looking at doing a Bike Safe (Find & Book a BikeSafe Workshop thing in May/June but does anyone have any experience of the IAM or ERS schemes?
