  3. I've got one. Believe the hype, my man. The 1098R is absolutely fucking brilliant! I've got to be honest though, I was scared of the barking engine to begin with. It will try to loop you in the first 3 gears on the gas. Mine has the DP race cams, enlarged bell mouths, 70mm full system and custom ECU. Needless to say this just adds to the intoxicating insanity! I had a 2006 999R before this, which is a sublime (and not slow) bike but the 1098R felt crackers when I first got it. I dont think the quick action throtle helped, mind you...
I'm just back from Almeria and had a right old hoot with it. In the correct and capable hands (err, not mine) there is no stock superbike that will do it including the mighty S1000RR. You won't be dissapointed.... Enjoy!

  4. Cracking bike Ken Enjoy :upyeah:

  5. yep ! got yourself quit an upgrade ! :) well done and enjoy!

  6. Looks awesome! Congratulations!

  7. Oooooohhhhh. I have just traded my 1098s for an r  It is getting all the trick bits off the s swapped at the mo and then it'll be tucked up in the garage waiting for spanish sun next spring. Mary - so pleased to hear about the BM eating capability. Those things were beginning to fuss me off on the straights of Portimao and Aragon.

  8. Rubbish thread, no pictures :frown:

  9. The last turn onto start/finish at Portimao is one ballsy corner!! I loved, it scared the shit out of me every time. But believe me, if you get on the gas soon enough those pesky S1000RR (cheats bike, too friggin quick) will soon be a fading memory. Probably....
Talking of getting on the gas.... be careful here as the R is a bit more 'urgent' than the S which you'll soon find out. Can you imagine a highside on that fast corner at Portimao?? It doesn't bear thinking about.... Gumph.

You will not be dissapointed with the barking 1098R. Enjoy! AJP_8297.jpg

  10. That is one scary corner. Possibly the most scary. Blind in but on the gas getting faster all the way to the outside kerb. As you say, if it goes wrong there it will have gone properly wrong  Isn't that what the traction control is for????

  11. MotoRapido, good to see they have some bikes in there! was in there 3-4 months ago and it was bare! I looked at a 1098S in there but it was a little tatty in places I felt (probably no more than you would expect from a 2007 bike with 10k miles).

Anyway, very jealous, the 1098r is absolutely lovely, does it come with the stand and all the cover and all that mumbo or was that just the older ones?

  13. Yeah kinda, but opening the taps on that corner and hoping the TC will 'auto pilot' you round it, would be a huge leap of faith. I always got the feeling that the laws of physics would kick in at any moment and high side me to the moon....

  14. Just gorgeous. Take it the work situation has improved so....

  16. Just realised how much I hate that carbon fibre clutch cover........time for some billet bling to be bought!

  17. agreed..i've just bought one for mine..totally unnecessary as it already had one, but it was the wrong colour sweetie...i will gradually be acquiring a few bots and bobs that it simply does not need over winter i dare say...

  18. I'm all for that sort of thing!

Next on my shopping list is some Motocorse rearsets........closely followed by a winter strip-down and complete nut/bolt/screw replacement session, in stainless or titanium. Standard fixings are utterly awful.

Did the same on my 848Evo. Took a while but made me feel better afterwards, having seen the state of OEM fixings after a few months on the road.

  19. don't say stuff like that mate....you'll have me gawping at stuff i hadn't thought of....

  20. NCR titanium rearsets!
