Some people rode from Essex on Guzzis to the Mandello Del Lario factory........can't recall which pass was used to get down into Italy, but even inside the tunnel there was snow up to 12" deep and it was frozen pretty hard in troughs and ruts.........on the Italian side, going downhill, the brakes wouldn't hold because of the wet so 2nd gear was used for braking all the way down until it was clear of ice and snow.
I too also only passed my car test at 28. Up to then it was bike or nowt! I bought a clapped out C70 for winter - it was a great laugh riding it in the snow! Once rode my AP50 in Denmark when it was -25degC and 2ft snow!
Hell yeah. Carve it up dude Not on a Duc though, cant afford the repair bill and I really can't be late for work
Must confess to wussing out and borrowing the car yesterday and today. It took me 2 1/2 hours to go the 14 1/2 miles from home to my office in Guildford this morning! Not good. There was still a bit of snow between the lanes where normally I'd be filtering on the Monster, so not 100% sure I'd rather have been on the bike despite the crawling traffic. If it snows again tonight, might find myself looking at train timetables.
Went to work and back today only tok me 2-3 min more. Heated gloves and jacket are perfect for temperature. Monster is very rough in cold weather and it makes it even harder but still plenty of fun. Did it in past, do it now and will do it in future. All seasons = different kind off fun (or pain ). I had my car licence at 18, bike at 24. When I got the bike I never looked back. Prefer to be cold but get there in 30 minutes then get stuck for 2h and waist all that time I could have played clash of clans
lived in a village when younger plus bike was only mode of transport ridden in worse snow plus crossers in snow drifts are a laugh but then again 17 = indestructible lol
When I was younger I would ride in any weather..........never worried about snow and rain, but I hated being cold and wet.
