Had a Lambretta gp200 in bits at my bedroom at my nans house, where it remained for 20 years , when she passed away my Mom threw it in the skip when clearing the house out, I was on holiday at the time, a good 5k worth even in bits .
I hear many stories like that, a real shame. If it had been a Bugatti the world and his wife would have known where it was..
Sold: Bultaco Sherpa for £200 2 x TY175 for £250 Triumph Rickman for £2k BSA Bantam for £200 I could go on..........
Can't add anything bike related but... My old fella bought a Ferrari 512BB (Carb Model) after seeing at goodwood festival of speed one year whilst we were there, paid £38k for it back in 1998. Kept it for 7 years and then sold it for £40k - Now worth circa £300k I bought a lovely Merc R129 SL600 for £7.5k back in 2008 and sold it 3 years later for £7k - Now appreciating well and worth in the region of £25k Learn't my lesson and current plan is to keep hold of our pride and joys for the foreseeable and see what happens with them... Unless anything drastically changes in our circumstances that is.
I worry that if I make an early departure my kids will flog my entire exotic parts collection to the likes of Elite Superbikes for something ridiculous like £100!
Mate had a 1982 Porsche 911 Turbo in red. Bought for £25k sometime in 90's. Met future wife and she nagged and nagged him to sell it. He sold for not much more. Now theyre 6 figures as he reminds her often.
I found my current 916sps with all the period upgrades in december 2013 by pure chance and shouting out of the window to the owner walking down the pavement....... Do you still have your 916..and he said yesit took a further three months to view it and take ownership for under £5k
3 years ago my OCD perfectionisme made me pay at least 30% above market price for a 2002 900SSie that was in absolute like new condition, with under 6000 miles, Termi exhaust, DP ecu and airbox. Those money will never come back, so better keep it...
