Myself, id like to try the 1199s but it would be hard to buy it without trying the 899 too... It would all be down to how you like your midrange possibly (?)
If youre a busy rider the 899 is perfect but if you are a lazy rider then the 1199 is perfect. I'm lazy.
I haven't ridden a 899, so will compare a 848 to the 1199 I rode and say that tbh, I ride the same on both in terms of trying to carry good corner speed etc (try to ride like I am on the 250!), the difference for me is that on my 848 on good roads I just wind the throttle on as I wish without worrying too much that there needs to be any electronic help etc. in short the 848 doesn't cost me any concentration once I am looking out of the corner to the next, I found the 1199 still felt like it had a big lump of power coming in at 7k revs that if you came into kind of made the bike 'feel' like it would just wheelie while lent over and I was thinking a lot more about where I was in the revs etc. I would only get the 'S' if you feel that the suspension is worth it so maybe you need a back to back test ride? I did think that even though the suspension was stiff on the S, it was super plush still.
