  3. Advertising makes a big contribution to keeping this Forum running
To most people paying £5 a year to get full use and ad free isn't a big deal. Personally compared to other forums I think it's a good deal
I've used a couple of forums which are US based the ads on there are not that intrusive but to subscribe its something like £25 a year
So would those who subscribe be happy to pay £25 instead of £5 so that those who don't want to pay have a better experience with reduced ads

  4. Bit harsh - suggestions requested, and provided in various posts in this thread.

  5. I’ve often wondered about the cost. £5 doesn’t seem very much yet it’s presumably perhaps the same as or more than the foregone advertising revenue, if that is the case the advertising revenue can’t be that much surely?

  6. I was going to post a response but I won't.

  7. I feel a Dull Men’s challenge coming on, time the duration of a programme live and compare to the duration of the same programme on iTVX, I’m sure they are longer to frustrate people into subscribing : unamused:

  8. If you think £5 is a lot how about Ducati reminding me every year to get the bike serviced despite, embarrassingly :no_mouth: only having covered 500 miles since its last service.
A fiver a year is a bloody bargain! :joy:

  9. I have no issue with paying to subscribe. Even subscribing to Amazon Prime for miles more a month and I still get adverts!

When I spend miles more in the pub every week - and that is before I hit the whisky! - a fiver a year is not really very big in the grand scheme of things.

But people are strange. Coming back from the Cinema today, I go though quiet old Charfield. Well it is, except when the petrol station reduces the price of petrol by 1p a litre. Then, people will drive from miles afield to sit in a queue blocking the main road in order to save 50p. Except they don't as they have probably wasted a couple of quid driving miles out of their way and sitting in a queue for twenty minutes. So, as human tightness knows no bounds, it will be no surprise that paying a fiver per year grates with some!

  10. I think a fiver is fine and it’s well worth it to me, mainly for the support I get from Ducbird! :upyeah:;)

  11. When I came back from the dark I was sufficiently annoyed with the ads to pay the £5. I also pay £12 to be on UKGSER and have done for many years. This forum is much quieter so think the cost is comparable.

This site is more moderated and has more rules than UKGSER, I’m completely easy either way.

I think a free ad free period for newbies is a good suggestion although I have no idea how easy it would be to implement and manage.

  12. Any site I visit where I'm immediately hit with ads, I consider bogus and leave at the very next click. Especially the kind of ads for gambling or wives by post.

  13. For me its way over policed.
The worst ive seen is changing the title of a thread to what the mod thought was better .
Well sorry thats not the point of a mod. Sure if its offensive but just because they disagree with it !

This thread closed on sale items.
Sure, say its sold but if someone wants to ask the OP about the item he sold and / or advice on that item they cant.

  14. I may be wrong but I think the idea with changing the thread title is to make it easier for people searching a specific issue or topic later on and you can still contact the seller directly if you have a question for them.

  15. I'm more than happy to pay £5, I've always contributed to forums I've been part of, I think it's great value for money. I (stupidly I know) pay over £100 per month on Sky etc and most of that's shit!

Could always ride 30 miles less a year to get the £5 back ;)

  16. When you consider MCN is i think £3.20 a week , £5 for a years subscription is a total bargain !
And as for the complaint that there is to much politics now ,that is only on the sub forums ,and why not ?

  18. I don't want to think how much I spend on booze a month! Some things are best left unknown!

  20. The ads can be a pain but the help and advice I get when I need it is worth the £5 alone and I’m not a frequent user/contributor, well not as much as I was. Still worth the £5 even if I post once a year! :upyeah:
