Look what arrived this morning. Slightly delayed due to Easter, but at least in time for the weekend.
That takes me back. My mate bought an apartment in Portugal and there was a bar down on the waterfront called Quasimodo's. The pair of us drank every bottle of Erdinger Weissbier in his fridge one night, and the barman gave us the last 2 on the house. I had a BMW M3 at the time and I got talking to a German fella at the bar who went on a 30 min rant about how Mercedes had went down the crapper in terms of quality. He was very passionate about it. He did show me how to pour Weissbier properly. Put the glass over the top of the bottle, turn it upside down and slowly withdraw the bottle from the glass. You roll the bottle between your palms a few times when it looks empty and pat it on the base with your plams. Strange the things you remember. Useful stuff doesn't stay in my brain, just useless tat like this. That's Belgian beer and Erdinger for you.
Wasn’t Lagos in Portugal was it? We drank a bar dry near the waterfront there. We went there as the canopy had erdinger flags on the canopy. That poster was given to me by the bar owner. While we were there at a table outside a guy on a massive white horse rode up the street, stopped at our bar for a brief chat with the owner before clip clopping into town. All a bit surreal late at night! We were there for WSBk (2013 at a guess). Keith
Cabanas de Tavira, east of Faro airport. It looks like it's still there although they seem to have went all trandy and called it Quasi. They had a big wooden Hunchback statue in the corner that looked like @Exige when I was there and the bar was called Quasimodo's.
My sister went to the appartment a bit later. She gave me this picture of the nephews in Quasimodo's. As you can see @Exige you're the spitting double. Those 2 are aged 22 and 21 now, with face fuzz that they think is trendy.
I’ve just got into this cheeky little monkey, not Belgian but Scottish made using American hops. Usually not my bag but this bad boys got me hooked, line and sinker. A good session ale at 5.6 abv !
