The CC change, i explained the st4 engine was a common replcement on 851's!........blah blah Because of the classic status they were not interested tbh. 20 year old bike i spose and not the modern type ducati I also explained you have to use aftermarket parts because Ducati no longer sell 851/888 parts apart from the same ones also used on a carby SS.
More or less what I have said to the various brokers....just done a Compare.com quote using Bike Team.....it came out £50 more than what Bike Team quoted me in the post!!!
Also waiting for a quote via the DOC as you get discount from a insurance broker the club uses's and they understand about Ducati's! Might be worth trying that AL. Have you tried footman james even after they stopped insurance on modern bike ? I'm sure your SS must be classed as a classic ?
Just to add... When a freind got knocked off his 851 a while back .. they came to access the damage and did not have a clue what model it was as it's not in the value hand book. They agreed a write off value etc, Mate bought it back repaired it and it's back on the road. The main reason He wrote it off was because parts are not obtainable any longer... as for mods!!!! Not interested!
Yes to both points.........classic bike (over 15 years old) £332......... Kin barmy..... DOC....less 10% which is SFA on the quotes I'm getting.....When I first came back to road bikes in 2009, this SS cost me about £110 inc recovery and no NCB....I now have 3 years NCB, no claims, and the same bike......Yet the insurance quotes have increased by over 100% in some cases, on average 40%. Just found out a mate of mine has got one of those bl**dy great BMW K1600s, brand new, plus his other big BMW GS1200......through e-bike insurance.....about £330 for the pair...OK, so he is an instructor, but I'm quite a bit older on a bike that is worth considerably less than his....I have held a full licnece for 44 years, owned big bikes and only one claim in my history back in 1990.... None of it makes any sense to me..... AL.
I'll bet I'm in a lower risk area than you are, Steve....... The only sort of crime around here is when a jay murders the baby birds and takes them home for a snack..... Or when Nog pops in for dinner and his van drips oil on the drive.......
Next quote... tell them you have no ncd and back to biking... i bet it works out cheaper Effin robbing stewards!
E-Bike £160 + breakdown etc etc 'Kin hell, as you say...... I think I'll go and buy an effing Mobylette. AL.
On personal experience I wouldn't touch ebike/ evan/eanything with a barge pole, cheap price cheaper service.
for classics try Peter James Insurance, the 'James' is the previous partner in Footman James, prices are exceptional (2 x 851s, 999s, Superlight, +4 other bikes- £350 fully comp, I'm 40 with clean licence and low risk area). They were nearly £200 cheaper than Footman James. And that price is unlimited milegae, European breakdown and LP. Oh and you can have as many 'moderns' [under 15 years old] as classics too. My 999S would probably costs best part of £350 in it's own right
For Classic Bikes at Peter James, the bike has to be 20 years old according to their website, but I will phone them about mine anyway as they also do modern bikes. AL
yeez! is that as a classic? if not buy a classic moped frame with V5 and claim you're building it up and insure the duke as a modern alongside it
I refer you to post No.30 above.... At this rate I'm not surprised some people don't insure their vehicles...... AL.
Looks like Bike Team / Equity Red Star........£133 inc Legal, Personal Acc, and Proper Breakdown / Recovery... AL
