I must admit I don't enjoy riding in the rain at any temperature. Lower grip (increased braking distance), poor visibility for me and other road / pavement users all combine to make it not fun.
The A338 Marlborough road takes me a bit far west (want to avoid the M4) and there's a lot of villages and speed limits on it. For this part of the world I normally go the A343 through the Wallops to the A303 then up the A34. Then for Benson, I thought onto the B4009 at East Ilsley then the A329/A4074. I don't like the A303 or the A34 o a bike. Too much like motorways. I'll have square tyres. But they're the quickest, least congested and most logical option unless someone knows a more interesting route that won't take forever?
Take a look at via Wantage and then Blewbury as these roads are good and definitely not like M/ways but you can make good pace.
Yep 338 all the way up, pick up the road for Abingdon then Dorchester then the Wallingford road I'll be heading the oppsite way but end up on same road, wave as you pass
Hi all, Andy w thanks for the heads up. I will make it to Benson for a cuppa and chat as long as it's not chucking it down. Can't make the ride though as need to get one of my other bikes prepared and motd later on. Cheers John.
Sadly (on a number of levels!) I won't be able to make it.............phone call from Hospital in Exeter a couple of days ago.....Mum has had a fall and broken her right wrist and her left elbow! :Arghh: So between hospital visits and doing what I can to help 84yr old Dad I'll have to pass Have a great day everyone.....weather looks set fair and with my absence the chances of rain will be even less! lol
Sorry to hear that Andy and hope you get everything as good as it can be for your parents. I have an Au Pair for my Mum now, as she's on her own and has very poor vision. It's working out pretty well (fingers crossed). Hope to see you on a 2016 ride

Oh no, I am so glad I re-read this thread - I thought the ridout was Sunday for some reason. Whoops so sorry I cant make it on Saturday and I am gutted, I have been looking forward to this. Kirky, can you do a second one for Sunday 18th please?
We are also out. I'm bad. I booked Andrew (my brother and car driver) and some other engineers to work tomorrow. In the absence of a working, leg and arm or a suitable driver I'm out. You guys have a great ride and note I'm very jealous. Ride safe and have fun.
