Best Bikes to buy as Investments?

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Dave, Oct 12, 2013.

  1. i clocked a honda fireblade RRN (first model) on fleabay...blokes asking £4 for it!

  2. The cheek of some people...

  3. I'd suggest the norton F1, probably the new commando as well, a new bimota or moto Morini (yes, they are available again in small numbers) or a Benelli tornado 900.

The no brainers are early blade or R1, bimota tesi (already stupidly expensive) or RC30 (but not RC45)

  4. Buy a thirty grand bike and stick it in the shed for ten years. You may see a 10-15% increase on your investment. Stick fifteen 2-grand bikes in your shed and you'll double or treble your money.

  6. Here a low mileage 916sps
Ducati 916SPS *560miles* For Sale (1998) on Car And Classic UK [C417909]

  7. I'm hoping my 998 FE mono will go up in value, although I'm fairly certain it won't go down.

  8. With even shitty old Bantams weighing in at well over a grand for a tatty one, it's safe to say that your investment is safe. Assuming you paid a sensible price, that is...

  9. I would quite like a tatty Bantam - it would take me back to 1967 ...

  10. Didn't know a bantam could do 88 mph!

  11. my mate bought a really really tidy rc45 the seller wanted to sell it so he could buy a zero miles 45. anyhows seller said it was the worst thing he has done as he cant start it, ride it ,anything, he can only look at it. the value is the fact it has never been started where the first bike he could enjoy and still it was going up in value.

  12. Hmm.... it's not a KR1S though, and it hasn't got original graphics, and.... it's not a NSR250 MC21SE or RS250... They are collectable and not going down in price, although I agree generally tht 2-strokes are a good investment, even if I wouldn't pay more than around £3000 for this KR1.

  13. if I could find a cheap FS1E or an RD250 (the coffin tank before the LC - or even the one before the coffin tank!) I might snap it up and put it away and take it out for the odd spin round the block. A 916 obviously - or any variant of the most beautiful bike on the planet!
I have a dream of finding a Vincent HRD at the back of a little old lady's garage and she lets me take it away to free up her garage space...."he was a lovely man" she'll tell her grandson "he didn't even charge me to take it away for me. He even helped me find the paperwork for it....". I'd do the same for the little old dear if it was a Brough or a Rudge as well...or a DBD Goldie maybe...
How about an X7 if the RD is difficult to source....with Microns, Boyer reads and K&N's of course...
    ...or a Cycle Master...or a Raleigh Wisp...just a thought...
