Best Concert You've Been To

  1. I saw Zappa at Knebworth, the Stones twice and my first gig was Rainbow in '77

  2. #1 The Animals. Years ago at the Pick & Shovel pub in Coalville. Best £5 I've ever spent :)
#2 Red Hot Chili Peppers. Derby
    #3 Richard Ashcroft. Derby.
#4 Stones. Sheffield (in the rain)

  3. Handel's water music requiem was very engaging.
Also Lou Reed at the Manchester International Festival a few years back doing all that Berlin stuff.

  4. I saw the stones in Sheffield... In the sunshine! It was my first gig, my dad got me drunk on Gin and I ended up at the front which was memorable.
Also saw Paul McCartney Sheffield, what a prat he is. I think my Dad had a hard time coming to terms with what a self indulgent loser the guy is.

The Killers put on quite a show (also in Sheffield). Think some of the best gigs I've been to have been either in France or Spain, the more random the better. Walked into the station square in Carcassonne one evening to find Gypsy Kings walking on stage to do a 2 hour gig for free.

  6. Best gig last year, Arcade Fire at Earls Court. Swapped our Friday tix for Saturday on gumtree so we could catch Lorde and 2many DJ's support. Got there early and saw band arrive in bobblehead attire. Great Show.

  7. Back in the late 80's I went to see Madonna (brilliant) Leeds and Michael Jackson

The most recent 2006 Muse in Cardiff
The best was The Who 2007 and Roger Waters both Amazing

  8. jonnybiscuit - Stones, Sheffield, in the rain - Bridges to Babylon Tour ? Cheryl Crowe as support ?
    Yes, I was there too...
    :)

  9. jonnybiscuit - Stones, Sheffield, in the rain - Bridges to Babylon Tour ? Cheryl Crowe as support ?
    Yes, I was there too...
    :)

  10. Best free concert - Drive By Truckers in Central Park, New York : Hieneken music festival. Supported by the J Giles Band.
I've been a massive DBT fan ever since...
"I heard Mr Young sing about it,
Heard old Neil put 'em down,
    Hope Neil Young will remember,
Southern man don't need him around anyhow..."

Actually saw Neil Young at Earls Court many years ago - he was pretty damn awesome too...

  11. Almost forgot - that's what you get for being old...
    Quo - Donnington - Monsters of Rock - 1984. EPIC !
    Support included Hawkwind and Gillan.
I still have the t-shirt, although it's a bit threadbare these days...

  12. Girlschool, Norbeck Castle Hotel basement, when I was a young 14 year old impressionable puppy. Before they cut a record I think, raw, rock and boobies :Wideyed: memorable time :D

  13. Rolling Stones Tour of Europe 1977 at Earls Court.

  14. Oh and Aerosmith - NEC: I was on the guest list as my mate / pool partner Rick Whitter was lead singer of the support act Shed 7. Cool walking up being on the guest list :D

  15. We saw Wings many years ago, it was an ok show. We only went because TDK sponsored his tour, Mel was working for them and got free tickets.

  16. The following stand out

Stones - six times I think.
    Led Zep - Knebworth,
    AC/DC - Derby (twice)
Plant & Page - NEC (proudly featuring the worlds loudest hurdy gurdy).

But the most memorable - The Zal Band (Zal Cleminson ex SAHB and ex Tubes vocalist and others) at local student union late 70's - brilliant audio visual experience at a small venue. Unfortunately they never recorded anything....

    Mr Bimble.

  17. Siouxie and the Banshees, 100 Club, a v.long time ago.

  18. Nah...Bigger bang Tour. Can't for the life of me remember the support ???

  19. Maybe it always rains when the Stones play Sheffield... ?

  20. Led Zeppelin, 1980 in Zurich, Switzerland. One of their last gigs, maybe past their prime but still great to me as a young 'Zephead'.

It's even Ducati related as I rode there on a Ducati Scrambler from Florence, Italy - which was quite a trek for a smoky, 12yr old 250cc single and lucky too because it shit it's big end shortly after my return...
