Sebimoto...I have forgot all about them. 10yrs ago I think I pratically kept them in business! Certainly quality stuff from them
I think people need to know that most matt carbon fibre does actually come with a matt lacquer on it.
Having just bought my 1299S and new to Ducati and the forum, I'm now looking at getting myself some carbon goodies. It looks to be that Lieb are the front runners in quality. But can anyone recommend any other good matte carbon products for the 1299? Has anyone used Carbon World products from Germany? I really don't want to put poor quality carbon on it, just trying to find a happy medium, although Lieb looks the way forward.
I seem to remember mention of the 1098 tray bring much better and may well fit the 749/999. If so, maybe that's the one to get made in carbon. Perhaps @Exige knows something about this
Notbought anything from carbon world but always been happy with the stuff i've bought from design corse. Theyre trading on here and discounts available if u ask nicely i believe.
How can a pleb like myself tell what's shite, better and best in carbon fiber, or can't you without putting it under a microscope or breaking it ? Surprised to read here that Ilmberger is produced in China, it's not what the advertising suggests. But having said that, I don't think all Chinese stuff is tatt, look at iPhone's. p.s. What's the difference between the weave's, has anyone got any pics please.
Got DP, Conquest Carbon and Lieb Speed (supplied by CC) on mine. CC is excellent value for money. Good fit and the finish and colour have lasted perfectly over the last two years. DP is good quality but compared with the other two it looks rather grey and drab. Lieb Speed is sensational stuff. Bottomless shine to the lacquer, perfect detailing and when you turn it over a look at the underside the construction quality is top draw. Costly but probably as good as it gets. 10/10 to Steve at Conquest Carbon for price, delivery and customer service.
Think I've made my mind up on the Lieb stuff, seems to be the stuff of choice by most Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I hit the deck at 70mph face down with my iPhone in my chest pocket. A slight grind on one corner, other than that it was fine. iPhone 4 on the other hand got smashed to pieces on a similar stack. They're getting better!
I am sure I ordered from Carbon Moto originally, not a great experience. I would have used Conquest Carbon after placing my order with the company above. Conquest Carbon seem professional but did not have one of my parts in stock. I wanted the bike on the road after waiting a long time to not get my parts previously and they were straight with me, you can't ask more fair than that.. I ended up, ordering my airbox from Australia race carbon, my intakes from Germany and V piece I think from Carbon King. All fine quality and not as expensive as some sellers, communication was fine and items arrived on time. I've had other items from Carbon King since. I asked the Australian company if they manufacture and they said yes, but I think like the majority are made in China. I'd guess if they do one off mod's or repairs at short notice, they perhaps do manufacture on site, most companies that import and resell probably won't want to get involved with that. I suspect it's probably not cost effective to manufacture some of these parts where overheads are high. A UK made carbon air box manufactured in small numbers would probably be quite expensive? I've seen carbon fibre wings made by Red Bull and my dash was defo proper carbon. My last minute parts from carbon sellers via fleabay look comparable at least, weigh less than the oem stuff, fit ok.. so I'm happy with them for the price. The weave and finish is fine next to the OEM carbon belly pan and the aftermarket carbon mudguard that was on it. I'd go with recommended seller if I could.
I work in carbon PEEK and PAEK impregnated composites and have done prototype work for Aerospace companies. Stress loading carbon is fine as long as the material matrix is fully encapsulated with the impregnation compound and the material used is crystalline in structure when cooled how this is achieved I'm not telling but it is indeed immensely strong, light and durable.
