Take US Pro sports (NFL or NBA) where they recognised money had the ability to create huge imbalance between the teams who could afford to buy the tier 1 players vs the smaller teams who could not. So to keep it even, they introduced the Salary Cap where all teams had to operate within a financial cap on salaries across each organisation, and the less successful teams had access to a higher cap than the top ranking teams from the most recent season. This has generally worked really well in ensuring competitiveness across the leagues. They need to introduce a similar system to MotoGP across the teams, in terms of a Salary Cap on the riders and staff, and also a R&D Budget Cap on how much they can spend on the machines. There should not be a constraint on the technology/engines/chassis' used (ie, bin CRT). This would force all teams to think carefully how they spend their money, where they choose to spend it (ie, machine vs rider vs staff), and give last seasons losing teams a bigger opportunity to invest where they need to to be more competitive. There needs to be a way of capping the HRC/Yamaha snoozefest the Premier class has turned into just because of the multiples of $$ HRC/Yam bring to each of their races, thereby making a mockery of everyone else.
He is a supreme talent, very very fast and a product of development within Spanish racing circle, prodigious and well sponsored, he has a lot too learn and will have his wings clipped. However I fail to understand how he can be deemed arrogant? He comes across away from the track as anything but. I get confused as much as I love the characters in sport what we should really judge his racing prowess. Shouldnt we?
I too can see him winning races (had a little wager with my other half), he will be on the pace early doors, fighting for podiums and definitely not scared of the big boys!!
