bugger, just read your comment that both headers glow red!! Yes don't run the engine too long stationary,,, or place a fan in front to help cooling,,, how does the engine pull when riding through the gears? (after carrying out an oil change if the engine has stood for years)
Cheers Q and HNY ! Oil and filter changed, magnetic pick-ups fitted to every orifice, 99 RON fuel in tank, carbs spotless, so just waiting for anything above 8 degC to give it a spin !! I spotted an interesting U-tube clip about how to set the air slides, using little more that lug-holes to tell when the slides clonk down, so tried that for starters. I have the Carbtune ready and waiting; and the see-through viewing plug is winging it's way to Drax _ will keep you'all posted !! Best Wishes to all Bevelers - dp
Admittedley it was much easier on a Guzzi Le Mans to get the slides to open and close at the same time, because you could see them at the same time..........but as I am a short*rse, I couldn't reach the throttle while standing right at the rear of the bike to get a straight-on view of the slides.........so with the seat off, I balanced (pun) a small bathroom cabinet with a mirror across the frame tubes and held it in place with two bungees........that way I could stand at the front of the bike, looking in the mirror and working the twistgrip.
