The criteria for a speed awareness course is “You haven’t been convicted of any other speeding offences in the past three years. You've been caught driving over 10% plus 2mph of the limit, but below 10% plus 9mph” I know, in the past, they could not distinguish between counties, so you could effectively do a speed awareness UK tour. Unfortunately that’s no longer the case.
I’m always glad to have my Waze open when riding. It’s helped me a few times. Only a couple of months ago, I was caught up by another rider and we had a bit of a blast together before my turn off. We were slightly exceeding the limits when my Waze alerted me to a police presence. I slowed us both down and he thanked me with a thumbs up. Nobody needs their fun ruined
Someone I know kept driving through a village where the locals had been ‘put in control on a speed camera’ He drove through ‘very slowly’ a few days in a row with a nice queue behind him His boss got a call (company car) telling him to knock it on the head or else
Not entirely accurate in my experience. I was offered a course for 90 in a 70 four years ago, I was offered a course a month or two ago just two years after a fine for 107 in a 60, and my course was offered in half a dozen different venues in the South of England. I'm just glad that I can contribute £90 towards the pension funds of Chief Constables around the country. And that is after all what it's all about.
If you're not driving directly in line with the camera then there's quite an error in accuracy. I would check with a solicitor as to whether the NIP is in line with the approved use of the camera.
Speed measuring units measure the distance from the camera or sensor and the time, if something is travelling at an angle to the sensor then the recoded speed will be incorrect. I would guess that you might have a claim to get this cancelled. But check with a solicitor that specialises in motoring law. Also look at the ACPO guidelines, there may be something in their about their usage. Check out Pepipoo too you may get help on there.
I use the A3 on a regular basis and there are a few hotspots for camera vans: Northbound just over the brow of the hill after the BP Wisley Services Southbound about 1 mile after BP Wisley Services Southbound between the Liss and Petersfield Junctions Southbound shortly after the entrance to the QE Country Park There may be others but I see them at one or more of these locations virtually every week.
they are often in vans on either side of the road on he hogs back going either towards guildford or farnham, and boy do they make some easy readys on that stretch, toe rags
