Big thanks to JHP - 749 loveliness!

  1. My R is a lot more revvy - like a 2 stroke almost. Need to keep it above 8K really to get the drive out of the corners. Corner speed is up compared to the SPS due to it being absolutely impeccable on the brakes courtesy of the K-Tech fork internals.
SPS is much more of a blunt instrument out of slower corners due to lovely torque curve and requires a little more care in throttle application. I haven't ridden it on track since 2008 when I had my nasty over the handlebars at 100-ish highside out of Clearways...
In all...I would say that they both get me round the baby-Indy Circuit in similar times (never timed myself so not sure how true this is). Both are great fun but in a different sort of way as the R is fast through the corners and the SPS is more stop-turn-bang back out of the corner.
I did BH on my M1100S last year and that was a hoot. Doesn't really matter what you ride, having fun is what is important!
I do wish that there was a different track close by...Brands is just sooooo convenient but having done Donny last week after a gap of 6 years I plan to venture further afield next year (hopefully!).

  2. Silverstone suits the little R too. Lots of different corners and good straights to take it up to 14k : )

  3. Tell me about it. Closet track is at least hr and a half for me, most 2 1/2 plus
