Try this guy based in Melksham, Wiltshire. He's moved my two bikes twice to date, always careful, reliable and knows how to handle the bikes ensuring they are well secured and safe. Contact details are: Phil 07980-731113 Shifting Gear Motorcycle Transportation. Give him a shout, you won't be disappointed!
I may of been lucky then. The guy got my bike from my brother's at Salisbury when I was housebound at the destination. I could track the van to check progress. The driver happened to also be a biker and knew what he was doing. I can't remember what van it was, but it was a large cargo van and not a flatbed. I think that coz the driver also happened to be a biker he took care and knew what he was doing. I think that the main thing is to have a biker or ex-biker do it, as they will know how to handle a bike and tie it down properly, using the frame rather than any bodywork that may break.
Yep definitely professional bike transporters on anyvan but also some cowboys who do not know the front of a bike from the back...I read a lot of feedback on anyvan and it is hit and miss across the board, personally I would never use anyvan unless I knew a professional bike transporter was moving my bike and you can check a drivers credentials before accepting an offer. I must add that there is various online platforms @PerryL and the garages I speak to generally do not know if it’s anyvan, shiply, or whoever collecting the bikes but basically I would recommend finding out who is bidding or indeed who has pressed ‘claim’ at a fixed price on a job and then discuss with the transporter about what experience he or she has ie are they a biker or ex biker as you mentioned do they have feedback or a website etc.
The van driver my mate used to deliver a motorcycle was truly shocking, came in a ratty old curtain sided van. Unloaded on it’s side stand on a rickety old tail lift......
i used shipply, its a comparison site, but you get to ask the courier questions, like van type, how many people etc, if you dont like what they say, pick another, they all compete for pricing so you endup with a good deal. ive had big items like my bike moved this way, and never had a problem

I used Oliver at Quickshifter Transport https://www.quickshiftertransport.com/ to move my bike (959) 130 miles for £125. He was available on short-ish notice and took fantastic care of the bike.
