Bike Storage

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Speed_Triple, Jul 6, 2014.

  1. Any photos or assessments of your trials and tribulations? ( one thread/post only ,will suffice :upyeah:)

  2. dig a big hole in your garden then place bike in hole ( carefully) and replace soil . if you tramp it down and place shrubs and flowers on top then thieves will never steal it. and all for the cost of a spade, shrubs, flowers and time. I may even be able to arrange lock smith approval.

  3. I've arranged for my bikes to be taken off-site by someone whose identity is not known to me, and who will store it somewhere safe in a locale also not known to me.
That way thieves will not only be unable to steal my bikes, they won't be able to torture me into giving them their location.

  5. great lock carlos.

  6. Best thing is that when and if you decide to sell, they are worth exactly the same as you paid for it.

Mate of mine bought a 40' one off ebay 2 years ago whilst his house was being built, just sold it for what he paid for it. Happy days :upyeah:

  7. On its way soon ... too busy enjoying the uncharacteristically hot weather on the bike to slave over a keyboard! Sorry

  8. Brilliant solution. It's a wonder that no one else is using it, isn't it?

  9. It was less than a grand when I posted the link - they sometimes go for this. Watching 'small places' on TV I understand they fall withing permitted development, being temporary. If it's security your after in a tin box you can't get better and you can have more bikes too :) but only if you have the room :(

  10. You'd better check with your council. I doubt very much that they count as permitted development anywhere. How would you feel if your neighbour stuck one in his front garden. Even garden sheds need planning permission I think you find.

And my point about the price still stands. It's the final selling price that matters, not a mid-auction price! It might have had a starting price of a pound.

  12. One problem though - I fancied a bike ride at the weekend and I didn't know a. where my bikes are and b. who has them.

    Anyone else had this problem?

  14. So, after spamming every section of the forum with your original post and now getting tetchy at alternative suggestions are you sure you are not involved in someway with the company making these tin pot excuses of secure sheds. Or were you just miffed because you had bought one ;) do you have a Ducati?

  15. I quite understand, at 2.28 on a sunday afternoon... well, look forward to said update, when your not riding in this hot weather.

I don't really feel the need to defend myself against the personal attacks of the ill informed but checking whether planning permission is required is good advice. I checked with my council and it is for a shed so I doubt whether a shipping container would be acceptable. And I would ride a Ducati but spent all my dosh on a tin shed for my much-loved 1972 Honda 50!!!!!!
