Stunning bikes! :smile: Sadly mine is not a V-Model (wish it was) - it is one of the genuine factory Lucky Strike T-Models - but I do have an unrestricted CDI and Sugayas to put on it as part of the project :biggrin:
Had a little play with one of them while riding my Triumph last year; it's fair to say the rider was quite confident, but the Le Mans was surprisingly agile and quick off the mark for such an old design. Wouldn't mind one myself.
The Mk II was one of the most forgiving bikes I have owned and yes, you could flick them around easily.......not much chance of hi-side with one either....as you whack the throttle open, the back end lifts owing to the torsion of the shaft drive, which is effectively pushing the rear wheel down. Also, the flywheel gyro motion across the bike, once you got used to it and worked out how to use it, could be used to good effect....for example, wind it on a bit in a left corner and it would pick you up, whereas doing the same in a right corner, it would push you down more. Extremely good for mpg even at 'high' revs...if you kept the throttle still.....I had over 70mpg out of mine on some runs at 80mph constant. An absolute doddle to work on as well.....there wasn't nuffink you needed a specialist for (well, maybe fitting a tyre). And don't believe all the criticism they got for mickey mouse electrics and switchgear.....I did have some electrics trouble which took a long time to find, but traced it to the Marelli coils after two years......they would always test OK, but broke down in damp air (fog rather than rain)..... ....I'm wondering if I might have a similar issue with my SS coils......but I have got six spares to try out, just for fun. I had a T3 for a while (actually on loan from a mate who'd given up riding) and owned a V50 mk2, and loved them both. There's something about Guzzis that really appeals to me, so much so that I'm going down to corn-cruncher land to look at a Griso on saturday, with a view to swapping my Sprint for it.
im a big lover of military bikes and i always wished i could own one of the royal enfield.. in military green of course
