bl**dy bike

  1. As I said on Facebook, it's totally unacceptable! It's a £17k motorcycle that won't start after a week! Get the dealer to sort it, it's not fit for purpose as it is. I've not used my Pantah in a month, not even put it on the charger, fired first press of the button. Most of the electrics on it are 22 years old!! I bet my car has more electrical circuits than a multi, and it still starts! I'm hoping it's nothing more than a duff battery :upyeah:

  2. why the hell should you have to plug a brand new bike into a charger between rides. in the 3 years i had my 848 i never plugged it into a charger once, and not once did it let me down. the only time I took any preventative action was when i was away for 6 months and removed the battery. On refitting it still started first time.

Give the dealer hell and get them to sort it.

  3. I've left mine for few weeks and not gone flat, bikes at dealers are left not on charge and start. Likely to be duff battery or just needs a proper charge plugged in.

  4. OK.........I know its a different bike, but I have had my SS for four years and the sh*tty cheapo conventional battery is probably six years old; but in the time I have had it, charged twice (got a bit low through tracing wiring faults) and topped up twice.

It sits in the garage with no Optimate or whatever for up to six weeks and it will still start after that amount of on-use, albeit a bit sluggish.

The OP's bike is the dealer's issue to resolve.

  5. I will be mentioning it prior to its 1st service. May be just a one off due to leaving it for 2 weeks Connected to charger without it being switched on.

  6. Started my bike after 3 months with no charger connected, wound over good, but took 4-5 tries for it to start, not the batteries fault tho', Yuasa battery :upyeah:

  7. Was it a problem with your finger then? Just not enough strength to properly depress the button?

  8. Maybe the charger drained it somehow. But like Matt I've left my 848 fir a few months and after a few turns it fired lovely. I have noticed this multi turns slower (larger pistons, heavier engine??)

  9. And once agin bike not used for 13 days on a charger plugged in this time and wouldn't start. So Ducati recovery collecting it tommorow to take to dmc Preston

  10. I would be prepared to wager that the OP left it in "PARK" when he put the steering lock on. Done it myself a couple of times on my 1098s. Easy thing to do....................................and when the penny does drop, makes you feel like a right twat lol.

  11. Nope Definatly wasn't left in park as steering lock wasn't on. Typically bike was recovered and taken to dealer and it apparently started straight away. It's going in workshop to see if battery is holding charge and if there are any issues causing to keep going duff.

  12. Providing you hadn't done anything silly like suggested, that's totally unacceptable. My TL1000 started last week 1st push of the button, after 3 months outside in all the cold and frost and rain, and last time it was running it was on its side under a VW!

  13. .on this occasion I haven't done anything silly. If it is the battery I'll have to pay as battery is out of warranty unfortunately.

  14. Well dmc still have it and I haven't heard anything so am thinking its more than Just duff battery.

  15. Dead bAttery so they have stuck a new one on. Don't personally understand how battery has gone dead this quick unless not set up right in the first place

  16. So back in August 2013 the battery rapidly went flat on a virtually new bike. This means either that battery was defective from new, or the bike had a wiring fault (or both).

Now in December 2014 the battery has gone dead. Is that a replacement battery, or was the original defective one still on the bike? Is there a new wiring fault, or was the original fault never fixed?

  17. Yes that's correct it was withi the first 300 miles of owning it. I asked them to check both battery and wiring on first service and was told both fine.

The battery wasn't replaced so it was existing battery that has just been replaced. Different garage have checked wiring ect and it is just the battery they say
