This opens up more questions than answers as I didn't realise that there was block and ignore. And I could be ignored by hundreds - not officially but they just ignore anything that I write. I may be being ignored right now, unofficially! It may be easier if I just shut up. For a bit...... or try to be interesting and relevant!!!
Ok, so I’m trying to find the ignore function for a member can only find block is ignore not an option?
Some threads seem odd: like one poster is having a conversation with themselves but you can’t see what about
Post 12 suggests you can ignore a member, so you just ignore their thread or only their contribution in a thread.
Its more like using mosquito spray. I've found that ignore hides their posts, whilst the ignored person is still able to see yours.
The block function is frankly cotton wool wrapping up for the easily offended or highly strung...in my personal opinion anyway I'm a realist, not an idealist, and life doesn't have a block function.
You block or ignore those trolls, not because you're easily offended or soft skinned, but because they're irritating bigoted twats who follow you around like they're needy. They become tiresome.
If that's what people find necessary to do then so be it, I'm just saying that it's not really the case in most part why people block someone on here, they block them because they don't like or agree with their views, not because they get stalked (followed around) But calling out people as being irrating and bigoted is somewhat bigoted itself is it not? At least leaning towards being so I'd have thought Like I said, it's my opinion, and the world's made up of many I don't agree with, so yeah if someone was stalking me I'd find it fucking weird obviously, but turning them off because I don't agree with their views smacks a bit of echo chamber to me Let's face it, on this forum there's none THAT extreme, and if they were they'd get banned before getting ignored or blocked No worries, each to their own
I wouldn't block because I disagree with their views. How then could you have a good argument? I would only block because of trolling. Not sure how calling out someone for being bigoted, in the sense of racism, sexism or any other 'ism', is bigotry in itself.
bigot noun big·ot | \ ˈbi-gət \ Definition of bigot : a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudicesespecially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (such as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance
No. He isn't a troll. I may not agree with him on things (i dunno), but he hasn't been an unpleasant troll or irritated me to the extreme. Trolls are internet bullies. Kids have committed suicide because of people like these. I will not give them the satisfaction they so desperately seek to validate their sad and pathetic existence. I will exclude them in tinternet life and in the real world, theyd get a punch in the nose and a kick in the crackers.
I know nothing about these new-fangled inventions that you speak of .... ....."ignoring" , "blocking" , "clicking" etc I use the old school / old fart method ..... "nothing of interest here ..... move right along " [ or "scroll down" , as I've heard the youngsters say ..... ] However , other options seem to be available , for civilized disagreement ....
