You'd think so, wouldn't you? So...how TF did my Declared bankrupt, Used car Trader Brother-in-law (Draycott) take out a £52k loan (£610/month !!) for a 4 year old Range Rover, from BMW Finance, in my Wife's (his sister's) name, without her knowing? He got it from here...https://www.baytreecars.com/type/modern/ so they must have known too. He's in prison now, serving a 4y for a totally unrelated fraud offence (You couldn't meet a more slimy vile creature. See (just the tip of the iceberg) here..https://www.derbyshire.police.uk/ne...-after-defrauding-care-company-out-of-250000/ ). Wife was unprepared to report it to the police ('cos "He's my Brother" and in enough shit already), so it's cost me £25k to get out of it. BMW Finance were completely fvcking useless/uninterested, unless my wife reported it to Police first. I'm retired, living on my pension and hard earned savings, and (was) completely without debt of any kind.
That’s shit mate, but why not just report it anyway?! He’s inside, likely to not be much different. And you can’t blame finance company if they insist on it being reported to the police as fraud/theft.
It's really shit, and I feel for you having had a family member try to scam me out of a serious amount of money, but I can't understand why you are calling the Finance company "completely fvcking useless/uninterested". Why would they be if you won't report it to the Police? Nasher.
The piece of shit has been 'Gasslighting' my wife for years. If I go 'Indi' and report it, I don't think my marriage would survive in anything like the form it is now. So it's stump up £25k ....or have an entirely different retirement to the one I currently enjoy and want to continue. As for the Finance Company....18 months into the agreement, they still hadn't got (and didn't know they hadn't until I asked for them) copies of either the 'signed' Finance agreement, or the invoice from the vendor. They know one of their 'Agents' has behaved illegally, but are unprepared to do anything about it. Even the contract dates, car mileage and registrations were wrong and the bill of sale un-signed. They just want their money. They should at the very least conduct an enquiry into how this could happen, particularly as such a large £££ is involved and the financed vehicle was only worth (retail) less than 75% of the finance total. Other frauds (apart from the obvious) have been knowingly commited in their name (don't forget, it was their 'Agent' that did the deal). I'd have thought they'd be interested in that? Anyway....trust me..I've looked at this from every conceivable angle and there's no alternative but pay up the £25k and move on. The purpose of telling the story (apart from getting it off my chest) was to demonstrate how easy it is for someone to get finance in someone else's name, and that these scum bags are EVERYWHERE.....even hiding in plain sight within your family.
If the agent is someone like 'Arnold Shark Motors Ltd' that is who you have to chase, the finance company don't give a shit as you have learned, hope you can find a way out without having to stump up money for nothing
So basically Mrs jonnybiscuit values her relationship with her Brother, and possibly the rest her family, at more than £25K As long as she understands that I don't see that you have a choice but to pay up. But I'd bank some points ready for the next new bike negotiation with her. My Brother tried to take me for nearly £300K, that I obviously didn't have and would owe the bank, but I caught it before it happened and got my Solicitor and the Police involved. Nasher.
Yep.....and you can deduce that I value my relationship with Mrs Biscuit at greater than £25k too......but at least she's finally beginning to open her eyes to what a toxic piece of shit her brother really is.
I took the BBL now running up at least 300k VAT debt until next year...at the end of this year the company will be sold to a foreign person. Just wondering how many real cases similar to the above will happen? IMO the gov should have instructed the banks, to ask for a little bit more papers/clarification from the companies what are monies used for, ex. list of invoices that are due, or something like this.
I was reading it’s expected that 50% of businesses who take out a BBL will default on the payments when the time comes.
The government have made it too easy to scam and the original example is ridiculous really.... 850,000 companies took out the BBL within the first month alone..... 4,250 applications every hour..... And probably 3 people vetting them.....
