just received this reply from EBC : Thank you for your e-mail concerning the layout of the friction material not matching up – we have a set of Suzuki o/e Brembo pads and they are the same layout as ours – where the compacts don’t match up – yes they will be O.K. to use. Kind regards Jon Wright Motorcycle Data & Technical Manager 01604 583344
They are fine! My guess is whoever fitted the pads previously swapped the sets around 'to make them grooves line up' for some stoopid reason.
i fitted the pads previosly and my reason was: i copied exacly how OEM brembo's were , and now i am on my 3rth pads set and they are different. headfuck!
Anyone spotted the diagram I posted yet, they are handed? Please photo both callipers so I can eliminate you from my enquiries
They are not fkn handed you buncha pissed bitches! Look what you've gone and made me do... The pads on the left are symmetrical, fit them and all your grooves will align with the planets and keep you happy. The EBC pads use two different sized friction pads on each brake pad so when you place them in the 'caliper position' the grooves will not bloody line up! The grooves are primarily there for a bit of cooling. You'll also notice that both sets of EBC pads have the same part number ie no difference ie not handed.
Look at this again, when you place the pads not in a mirror image format you see this, therefore they are NOT handed!
what noone can tell me is : WHY EBC FA477HH purchased couple of years ago lined up and EBC FA477HH purchased couple of week ago do NOT line up. they are different! part number is the same
I dunno mate, were the ones you bought some years ago fakes or from a reputable supplier? Maybe they changed the pad design? I can have a look at some old pads later if you like but I'm just killing the cat ATM.
