The USA is an excessively litigious society because the Americans are dab hands and commercialising everything and spinning a buck from it. They have succeeded in commercialising justice and turning it into an industry. And as the UK always looks to UK money-making schemes all dewy-eyed, now the same attitude is in the UK. The money doesn't come for nothing - someone has to pay it - so it's added to the costs that everyone pays for everything.
