British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. Maybe, maybe not - but it appears to go against your version of clarity, so I am just confused about the clarity you speak :):upyeah:

  2. No;

Norway are not a member of the EU. But they have a deal. Soft Brexit without damage?

But that is not good enough for some as the Norway model keeps freedom of movement. Hard Brexit seems to mean no deal, no freedom of movement etc. So no compromise, or common sense applied, just crash out.

As to sliding while in the EU. Our government has been a shambles for several years, they fuck up everything they touch. I would be looking to blame them for any problems way before the EU. Apprenticeships, more UK trained nurses, more tech start ups...all things that could and should be taking place. Never needed to get rid of Polish workers or leave the EU to sort out the mess caused by years of bad management from within.

  3. I like Tim, sometimes I feel people look own on him because he has that Norfolk accent. I doubt many are aware he qualified as a Barrister

  4. I don't know how people will vote but I am sure that their votes will be better informed now than they were back in 2016 when WTO rules were barely discussed and the Withdrawal Agreement didn't exist. Nobody will be able to say "the information wasn't available".

  5. Agree our governments of the last 20 years or so have been wank - but feck me you like the Bullies on the EU council that we cant vote out more

  6. But we have totally opposite opinions yet again, so no clarity whatsoever - personally I was very clear 2 years ago what I was voting for, I couldn't have been clearer - find a 'leaver' who wasn't if you can...

  7. True. BUT, we are sliding in comparison. Global economy affects everyone not just the UK. As you point out, even China stalling. Really not the time to be on the back foot.
Tories keep finding a billion here and a billion there ( to fund DUP, to fund Brexit problems immediate..) hmmm. So 3 billion sterling invested in training nurses, education, infrastructure projects, apprenticeships. My guess is that would have a very positive affect on the UK economy. No?

  8. Yes, lets get out quick - thanks for solving it all for us :blush::blush::blush::blush::blush::blush::blush::blush::blush::blush::blush::blush::blush::blush::blush::blush::blush::blush:

  9. Agree, you only have to look at major implementations, Universal credit being a great one. Everyone agrees at its core, it is a fantastic idea and much needed but the way it's been rolled out is a dog turd of organisation. If they ran a motorcycle company, they would be ducati, with all the recalls, failures after something that should have been good.

As a country, we went cheap rather than invested long term and so flooded our country with cheaper labour. I don't blame the migrants, it was a beneficial deal but the apprenticeships need to be brought back in larger amounts.

In typical Britishness though, we like to put our own country down a lot. look at Poland, they have a massive problem with immigration because so many left in the days when Poland offered very little future to their young. Most of those stop gap fill ins, well lets just say we are not the only country dealing with an element of doubt what to do

  10. No. But I think the whole thing is major distraction from the real problem. We would not even be looking at the EU in the same way if we had an economy as strong as Germany, and we should have. We have been distracted and misled over the real problem.

  11. Mmmm, Germany has big problems

  12. Two things on this, No we were not sliding. often when quoted about our economy you would here figures thrown about in the dramatic and the world end way until you realise the bit them often omitted was, we are still growing and are in the positive growth direction. Secondly, even the dubious imf have said today there maybe a world revision of their growth figures and one of the reasons has been maxed potential.

When your market is flooded and at peak, you look for new markets and when they are flooded and at peak, you continue the circle but at some point everything flattens because the world markets are flattened.

Well the dup money wasn't for the dup, it was for the kudos and support to the tories. It was won BY the dup to bolster the northern Ireland government and then onto the people. Now if we can just get both sides to turn up for their day job, the people of Northern Ireland will see that benefit.

The other point here is that the tories are like those sneaky people who save and save and always find money but never tell anyone they have saved cash. The opposite is labour who tell you they have an open bank account for everybody or as it's otherwise known, spending the grand kids inheritance.

  13. The world has big problems. Immigration due to economic stresses and wars supported by the west.
The far right, globalisation, capitalism, North Korea, oil companies,
    Russia
    Trump
    Corbyn
    May

The EU though is a bigger problem to us when outside, rather than in. You dont think we will get better new trade deals than the EU can get with more financial clout?? Add to that we stop having any influence in Europe, physically, trade wise, and economically with our biggest partners. Makes no sense.
