British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. Conservative party are finished either way. Got themselves into a catch 22 situation.

  2. Re the doom and gloom that has not come to pass, lets see after Brexit. Then judge that one. Nothing much has changed...yet.

  3. Not if they leave on WTO.

The trouble is that TM is a Remainer who has tried her best to either thwart Brexit or try to please everyone by keeping a foot in both camps. She can't do that, it was a binary choice. If we leave on WTO on March 29th, this will only strenghten the Conservatives come the next election once people see the ACTUAL effect of leaving the EU.

  5. Ok, so everyone should stop predicting what will happen and just get on with it. I'm up for that.

  6. Perhaps the focus should be on our politicians

  7. There lies the problem, they don't listen to the electorate, they do what THEY think is best, as we keep making the wrong (in there eyes ) decisions.

  8. The problem most of them have is that all the major elections have been recently done and nothing is on offer to them mp wise at least for a couple of years.

  12. They do need to get on with whatever “it” is. A mess at the moment that does not help anyone no matter what their brexit view point.

  13. And the alternative is? No, I think without May in charge they can regroup.

A moderate Labour party with say David Milliband as leader, yes. Putting Corbyn/McDonnell and Abbott in charge would make a hard Brexit look like a walk in the park. I think they'd destroy the UK economy and put us into even heavier debt with a downrated credit rating putting up our loan costs.

  14. That’s quite a scary thought.

What alternatives do we have or are we left with the conservatives as a ‘best of a bad bunch’ ?

  15. JOB is a completely arrogant, superior, smug bully and he makes my blood boil when he talks about Brexit facts (his opinions in reality). Any coherent caller in support of Brexit gets interrupted, bullied into a different line of discussion and ambushed. He never lets a reasoned critical point to be made. Instead he specialises in inviting half baked Remainers into looking foolish. After Brexit (yes, still an if) he will be backtracking along the "we've weathered the storm, but its cost balh blah and we could have been in such a stronger position inside the EU". He will never recognise real facts that don't suit his opinions. I hope LBC recognise that he is spoilt goods and drop him for someone who can accept different views.

  17. I can’t see a current alternative. Its like choosing between dog turds. End result is still a dog turd..

Coalition governments could be the norm for a while.
