British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.

  3. The BBC is certainly hired to sell a line. They receive funding directly from the EU to promote the European Project, money which for years the BBC big-wigs (especially former Trust Chairman Chris Patten who by odd coincidence receives a huge EU pension) has tried to keep quiet, entering the money on its balance sheet as "other grant funding". These payments and the obfuscation surrounding them goes back many years despite attempts by (non-BBC) political journalists and cross-party MPs to get to the bottom of it.

  4. When you think about it, it's quite incredible how we lasted this long being a member of the EU. Thank the lord you brave brexiters saved us all from certain doom.

  5. The BBC is certainly more impartial than the Sun,Mail and Express.

  6. The Sun, Mail and Express are privately owned newspapers not funded by taxpayers. If you don't agree with the views they expound you are not obliged to fund them by buying their publications. You are free to patronise competitors who will better reflect your views.
The BBC is a public broadcaster. We all pay for it out of taxation therefore it must be scrupulously impartial and serve all of us, whatever our political sympathies and it must not be corrupted by sponsorship.
We don't allow our elected MPs to take money to further the interests of client sponsors (or accept bribes as its otherwise known) and we shouldn't allow the national broadcaster to do it either.

  7. So happy you've finally seen the light, albeit at such a late stage in the game, but well done anyway.
And such a shame you didn't experience what life was like BEFORE the EU started to strangle the UK and every other EU country apart from France and Germany.
Not forgetting the cold, calculated theft of manufacturing jobs and fishing grounds from us,of course.
Luckily this country has still got a majority of voters who unselfishly chose the interests of others,(including those as yet unborn), over their own prosperity.
    Or were you being ironic?

  8. I’m not sure I could ever take a random fella off the internet who replies to people with comments like “go cry to your mummy” seriously tbh.

I imagine no.10 must be on the phone to you every night seeking you pearls of wisdom though.

  9. Well,I do my best, although to be honest,I even gave them some of yours:

"ooohh someone's tired! did the storms keep you awake last night pet”?

“do you still believe in the tooth fairy too”?

  13. Define 'impartial'. Telling the truth or just saying what you want to hear?

  14. The banks are there to make a profit like any other business but because western society relies on debt to keep it afloat (to make the rich richer still and keep them that way) they are one of the major building blocks of our system and they made themselves so interconnected meaning that letting one go bust would have meant the majority following and then the wealthiest losing everything including their power.

  15. the express :Hilarious:
interesting reading the last few posts there. i was just after reading this.

this is how you do it. insult and patronize then re wright history. the power of the dead tree scrolls eh?
not for much longer. social media rocks. :upyeah:

  16. Why don't you ask yourself the same question? It applies to you as much as to me.
What if the BBC was receiving millions of pounds in "grants" not from the EU but from rabidly anti EU organisations? How would its "truth" suit you then? It cuts both ways and would be equally wrong.

Fundamentally and before all else, impartiality means not receiving money from a third party to promote a particular view. The BBC fails this test.
Whether you agree with its stance on a particular issue or not is immaterial. What matters is that when a publicly owned institution is paid to favour one side of a political argument over another that is utterly unacceptable.

  17. The Tory party and the Labour Party and every other party receives monies from wealthy outside sources so they are all far from impartial yet you were adamant the other week that we live in a democracy. The system is corrupt and broken and that what needs fixing.
