British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

  2. What's the old joke about WW3 and 4 ?

WW3 will be the most technologically advanced war in history. WW4 will be fought with sticks and stones.

  5. When did anyone convince anyone else of anything on here? Except maybe to further entrench their views ;)

My money is still on a last minute botched revision of the botched deal, it was always gonna go down to the wire.

  6. Article 50 was voted through on a 3 line whip back when the government had a workable majority.

  7. Back in 2014/15, I was persuaded to look at the question of EU membership by various forum posts at the time.

This led to me changing my stance of the UK's EU membership.

Not sure anyone else's mind was changed in that time. Maybe.

  8. If the Independent is to be believed:

‘By 498 to 114 - a majority of 384 - MPs backed allowing the bill to progress to the next, more detailed legislative stage.
Ten Labour junior shadow ministers and three whips, who are supposed to enforce party discipline, voted against triggering Article 50 in revolt against Mr Corbyn.’

  9. I know that - both May and Corbyn imposed 3 line whips.

  10. I'm genuinely struggling now with what the point is of continuing with Mays 'deal'?

Given the bad blood between ourselves and the EU's negotiations team / leaders (not eu country leaders may I add), it's farcical to considered moving from here on to trade negotiations with the same people involved.

    Utter pointless in my opinion.

And then we have JC's plan, well, I call it a plan, what I really mean is WTAF is he on about? What on earth has he smoked to genuinely think that the EU would give us / him any say at all in negotiations they undertake with others?

Ffs Jezza, wake up man, stop being so pie in the sky

Oh and then the Bank of England, spinning that the UK is really in the shit with a 1 in 4 chance the UK could go in to recession, and yet Germany and many other eu countries are literally on the knife edge of recession already, more so than the UK.

  12. I was told by a French ex diplomat, that EU expansion was driven by the Brits in order to dilute the power of France and Germany. He was convinced of it.

  13. I was told by an EU diplomat from Dublin (House) + Brussels (Apartment) that we were fecking stupid for voting to leave, this was just after the vote - (and yes she was in a pub - a mates wife) when another mate asked why she though that she said because they would get all the fekkin' immigrants now and less money. Just a true story, nothing racist here thank you o_O it was quite funny at the time :) she was genuinely angry with us :joy:

  14. Would love to know what he thinks of Macron recalling the Ambassador to Italy, Probably the U.K's fault too :D

Watching channel 4 news with the usual duke twist. The economy has a 1 in 4 chance of a recession (in English, 75% of not having one). Forecast growth will be at it's lowest in years at 1.2% ( a forecast only) and he forgot to mention Italy is in recession, Germany is now on the precipise of recession and the eu growth forecast for the whole of the eu this year is only 1.3%

Honest, it's difficult to find news which isn't from a remoaner station or source. How on earth do these people survive without prozac?

  15. You have to take the news with such a big pinch of salt everyone is going to have gallstones. Cant believe it, a bit like history, only some facts. The rest propaganda or written by the victors..
despite putting links up for the Reuters website, I have to laugh. Pound down due 'XYZ', yet look at the trading for footsie on the same day and the exchange rate...pound up. POS.

  17. My main source for news these days is Twitter. Never used to be but I prefer it over BBC, Sky or ITN.

Why ? Firstly I am a twit which you all know. Secondly, the reports are mostly unfiltered and I'm getting better at spotting a wrong'un with fake news. Gilet Jaunes being a good example over the past few weeks, Minimal coverage here, plenty from those on-site.

I treat every news story with caution these days. And as for the papers .... they are even worse !
