British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. Is this an example of "faulty analogy" or were you just kidding : o D

  3. Liberals tend to see things in binary, or monochrome. Thus:

You are either a member of the EU
    or
You have just declared war on Europe.

There are no shades of grey.

  4. No, I was just being flippant about mass starvation. But people and states tend to thrive the more real friends they have. Not Facebook friends.
Being part of things is better than not, generally.

  5. LOL. Yes, it is "just Crazy Guy" and he'll be voted out soon enough ... so the EU can resume normal service.

  6. Having pissed off Europe, what new mates were you thinking of cultivating? The US? China? Saudi Arabia? Russia? Zimbabwe?

  7. I get in serious trouble in this thread when I am flippant. It's been my ruination, I tell you.

    You're privileged, so you are.

  8. Switzerland. They aren't part of the EU so they are free to be our besties.

  9. The only agreement Dr Fox has managed to organise is with Switzerland. I hope everyone is suitably grateful. But negotiating with the Swiss is a walk in the park compared with the purveyors of chlorinated chicken or the luxury goods falsifiers.

  10. Chlorinated chicken, you say? Chlorine? The horror.

OK, for our UK residents, the ones that will be forced to eat Trump Drummers from April onward, try this simple experiment:

Stop using tap water in your home for four weeks.
    Then run the kitchen tap.
Tell me what you can smell.

Hint: it isn't chicken ... but it goes with chicken (after April).

True fact, verified by yours truly.

  11. Do you think we have ‘pissed off’ European countries so much , by leaving the EU, that they will want nothing to do with us ?

  12. They will find other EU members they can sell to instead of selling to us.

At competitive rates too, I'll wager!

  13. Why would the EU be peed off with the UK other than they are loosing our payments, they can continue to trade with us as before if they choose but they'd rather cut off there nose to spite there face, just as a so called punishment for having the audacity to think we can manage on our own.

  15. I agree, but I don’t think the businesses will want to lose any trade.
Especially the car manufacturers, dont they have enough problems without being picky about who they sell to ?

The politicians would probably love to turn their backs on us though.

  16. You know after page 833 I have to ask,

    Brexit: What happens now?

  17. There are two layers to this issue.

The surface layer, which is the only one the MSM, and most folks who follow it, talk about is the financial aspects of Leaving, Deal or No Deal, who gains, who loses, economically speaking. On this level, it is obvious that both sides will want to either benefit, or not lose too much, in the new reality.

The underlying layer is not spoken of in the MSM and this is the most important aspect to the EU. The EU will be prepared to cut off its nose to spite its own face, as long as by doing so, they teach a lesson to any other EU member who wants to create a Leave situation of their own in order to either negotiate a stronger position for themselves within the EU, or to actually follow the UK out. The consequences of Leave must be seen to be sufficiently awful that no other member state considers trying its luck in this way.

This is why it has not been possible to negotiate with the EU and get a sensible, comprehensible leaving deal. You cannot negotiate under these circumstances.
