British Indy: What Happens Now?

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. Erm, it is not as simple as asking to stay. Criteria must be met.
As with most of the EU, freedom of movement is not a right to stay. Useful link.

  2. ^^ as per the rest of the EU, we always had control over this..

There has been so much bollocks about EU immigration. Look elsewhere for the bogey man.

  3. Sounds like another dossier I read about that no one ever really saw! : o D

  4. Maybe, there's nearly 850 pages here debating whether it's positive or not.

  5. Is that a reference to the Steele dossier? Or some other Brexit dossier I don’t know about?

  6. I did mention that at least 50% of immigration to Britain came from outside the EU and that Britain has total control over it. My point was studiously ignored. Well, it doesn’t fit the Brexit narrative, does it?

  7. Neither, although your reply reminds me that no one has really seen the legal advice with regard to the WA.

I was actually thinking of those documents that Buzzfeed assured us about ... "We saw them, they're real!" prior to said documents (and half of Buzzfeed's staff) disappearing in a cloud of vapour.

Sources count, which side of the LooneyWars you fight for!

  8. So approaching 50% of immigration is something we have no control over?

Hardly seems worth bothering, for less than 50%. Good call, Glidd.

  9. I may be wrong, and am happy to be corrected as I haven't read through all of this thread.

Maybe immigration isn't such a big deal to Brexiteers as Remainers think ?

  11. Currently its closer to 25%.
Still bugger all to with the EU though. Our choices, our implementation of immigration control.

Should really take note of ROW immigration, if you have any concerns.

  12. What would you put the current reduced immigration of EU member state immigration down to? Any ideas?

  13. That’s a really poor response, Loz. For years people have been bleating about immigration and overcrowding and the government did nothing, all the while it being in their power to make a massive dent in the numbers of people coming.

And your answer is to wilfully ignore this point and focus on the other, easily integrated 50% that takes leaving the EU and economic suicide to remove?

Is this the level of intelligence to which this debate has slumped? I talk about the Brexit debate as a whole rather than your contribution to it. I rather suspect that Brexit is clutching at straws of faux logic as it disappears over the White Ciffs of Dover.

  14. How about being made to feel unwelcome and coming to a country with a blighted future?

  15. Then why was it plastered over Leave posters during the ref? You’ll have to do better than that.

    The new position of Brexiteers:
Nope, it wasn’t the money and economy.
    Nope it wasn’t immigration.
We just hate the EU. Simple as.

  16. Yep. Bit ashamed tbh after the welcome here from French people. We could learn a lot.
Also we now have a weak pound. Gone are the days of near 1.40 to the £
    Polish economy has picked up.
Why stay in a racist country? (though ROW immigrants will continue..)

  17. And your point is?

  18. I'm sorry that the point you thought I was making was a source of disappointment to you, Glidd. As I said before, your levels of comprehension used to be higher but I guess we all slow down when the garden starts to take up most of our attention : o )

I willfully ignore nothing at all. If the UK needs immigrants from the EU area, it should be our choice to attract them. It should not be their right to tip up. Agreed?

The RoW immigrants have no blanket rights to come to the UK, they are accepted in accordance with UK immigration rules. We can certainly have a discussion about how broken those rules are, for sure, but this thread is about Brexit, and all related issues. Which is why EU-area immigration comes up for discussion on a regular basis. In the Brexit thread.

  19. It affects him financially. Erm , no.
    NIMBY. Maybe.
