A quick look tells me: Nurse £23K - £30K a year Doctor £60K - £100K a year Police £30k - £40k a year Fireman £20 - £30k a year
weather or not they are earning it is a different mater 78K for a full on job at that level seems fair.
That's true. Maybe some do. Not sure about full on, I suppose that's a matter of opinion. I have tried looking to see what I can find out about what they actually do week in week out, but not had much luck yet.
Yes, pretty much. It's not exactly a 9 to 5 job being an MP if you're doing it properly. You're probably doing it most evenings and most weekends. If you were a well-paid manager in s FTSE 500 firm, you'd be earning as much if not more without the grief. Having well-paid political representatives should (but may not) insulate us from them becoming prey to corporate lobbyists. In pretty much all countries where people in power are underpaid they immediately create a culture of graft to top up (that's a euphemism) their salaries.
Maybe you could ask to follow your MP around for a week and then write it up for us, a newspaper or some other organ. It might be very interesting.
Now go to the City of London, look at all the people around you and try to imagine what they are earning. If you want to get scandalised (and it's fair enough) start there.
Aren't MEP's basically funded by the Tax payer though ? I'm sure there are others earning far more in other industries etc.
See answer above for the first bit. When you say 'top up their salaries' do you mean their expenses ? Surely that is to pay their expenses, they wouldn't benefit financially from it would they ?
A nice idea, but I'm not very good at writing (probably already guessed that). ( a cop out from me I admit)
the last finance commitie i watched (sad barstured i know) every tory that spoke had to declair an interest.
A French perspective on "Whats next" French European Affairs Minister Nathalie Loiseau showed a great amount of patience on Radio 4: Q: Aren’t you risking no deal? A: No deal is your choice Q: Change the backstop? A: It was your idea Q: Don’t you want another referendum or soft Brexit? A: Its for you to decide. Whatever your thoughts, you have to like the accent!
A good insight into our MP’s here, I would imagine MEP’s to have a lesser attendance... https://www.theguardian.com/politic...011/sep/08/reality-check-britain-s-laziest-mp
So stop voting Conservative and vote for a party that will give our service men and women a decent wage! This is not the fault of the EU, it's the fault of our Government.
