British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. I thought they were right wing? Or perhaps they were so far to the left they'd gone full circle and come back around on the right hand side?

  2. Bit racist, that.

  3. Close but no cigar ant, the tweets that were listed remain on Carole Cadwalladr's own twitter, she is a writer for the guardian and Observer, the only satire, is to see how many extreme remainers fell for the usual "but but but russian money" crazies

You might want to read the crazies she has and continues herself with https://twitter.com/carolecadwalla?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^author

You're welcome me old pork chop

  4. "Right-wing"? Are you crazy?

Exercising control over the production of wealth, the morals of the population, strict (harsh) rule-of-law, no democracy, policies based purely on identity and race, reckless/ruthless desire for expansion of their hegemony ... they could hardly have been more Left Wing if they wanted.

  6. And so must I. Keeping up with this tread is like a full-time unpaid job.

I'll try and get back to you as it is refreshing to have a debate rather than a slanging match.
But just to clear up your last point, I was merely quoting you. You said "I will never understand...". I know it's a few pages ago, but they were your words, not mine.

  7. I'm not crying about anything mate. I'm happy ... No Deal is dead .... and a soft Leave looks likely, which I'm also happy about (see below).

Please help me understand how ... can you quote any examples?

I think a soft Leave would be best now (even though I voted Remain in 2016) because it has the best chance of healing the divisions in the country ... see? .. not being selfish :)

    Why?

  9. I thought "Left-wing nationalist" was a euphemistic way of saying "National Socialist" ie Nazi.
It's a slur the country is endlessly tarred with by the unfriendly. Water off a duck's back to me. If we want to start examining Switzerland's conduct in the War, I suppose we could also start examining the Slave Trade and the Opium Wars and god knows how many other shady areas of Britain's past.

  10. some schools have got bigger, some schools have closed mostly rural where imigration is needed most due to the nature of emplyment. 30k less kids, 1000 less teachers.
what the slag fest along with yer salmon wars piece shows, is the elephant in the room, Brexit, which they point black refuse to report in any real deapth for fear of strenghtening the Govs position. in their rush to slag of the gov, yet again, anybody with half a brain can see the impications of being outwith the EU.

  11. What are you talking about? You've entirely lost me.

  12. This bit for me fin rather somes up the two sides with yours being selective. An awful lot of schools close in rural areas because uk residents as a whole are having less kids and when they do, they tend to want far more than isolated rural communities.

The snp will then promote that as schools closing due to austerity rather than the honest approach, we have had open door policy on immigration since blair opened those doors and despite over nearly 4 million eu residents coming to the U.K., most do not want to go to Scotland, let alone the rural parts. That isn't austerity, that is simply the migrants choice.

If there is any challenge for the Scottish government then the question they need to ask, of the migrants that do come to the U.K. why do the majority not want to come to Scotland and how do you change that.

There also needs to be some honesty, many rural large areas of europe are also struggling with low birthrate at a time they want to become the machine of more more more

  13. You are happy to settle for a worse deal than WTO, such an ‘I’m alright Jack’ attitude.
Typical of a 6%er  horrifying :scream:
Have you changed your vote yet then, no? Toddle off...

  14. Apologies. You haven't been involved in previous discussions of this nature.

First of all, I make no slur against Switzerland, nor its people, who I believe have much to commend them. They are outside of this topic, except in a humorous, "Nazi-treasure lying at the bottom of Swiss lakes meme/cliché" sort of way that I was teasing you with.

Secondly, I am addressing the frequent error that the Nazis were right-wing. It has been such a pernicious and oft-repeated piece of misinformation that for many folks, it is beyond question.

A forensic examination of Nazism and its practices will soon put you right on this - the Nazis were extreme left-wing. And the Left's cleverness in falsely aligning racism with the extreme right-wing, in order to make racism a "right-wing sickness" has contributed greatly to this misapprehension.

For myself, I believe racism largely exists outside of political divides. I have heard the racism charge often leveled, with justification, at Labour in the UK and the Democrats in the USA, as well as against the usual suspects on the Right. Racism is a useful, if utterly disreputable and reprehensible, tool for rallying support amongst followers but it is politically neutral, in my view.

If you are interested in the subject, try and catch up with Dinesh D'Souza's fascinating interview with the American white supremacist, Richard B Spencer. Spencer fiercely identified himself with "the Right", but when carefully quizzed by D'Souza on his various political/sociological/economic beliefs, it became apparent that Spencer has more in common with the Democrats than with the GOP. "An eye-opener" is an understatement.

  15. In my opinion (and that of the majority of folk) there is no "worse deal than WTO" (typical attitude of a 46%er)

If I really had an "I'm alright Jack" attitude I'd be pushing for Remain or Peoples Vote. I think we may well end up that way, but I'd prefer not as it will likely deepen divisions.

I don't need to change my vote on the poll at the start of this thread ... it is still, and always has been consistent with my view.

  17. May will continue to play party politics. She should be thrown out of parliament. She has complete contempt for due process in the house.
I dont know if she is a remainer, a leaver, an inbetweener or what. She is not a communicator or leader though. As is so often in modern politics she behaves like a dictator. Off with her head:punch:

  18. May is an EU bureaucrat. She also moonlights as the UK Prime Minister.

If you have further questions ... don't be shy.

  19. You sure? It would seem she is simply using the house rules in a way that suits her but house rules they are never the less and much of the complaint is that she is using them effectively.

If there is any contempt in the house then having a 90% remain house block a democratic majority leave vote and direction by the people. They have no problem not listening to the people but get pissy when they are being ignored.
