British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. well It may have been unwanted up your way but I can assure you its been on the lips of every working class man I've encountered in south England for the 14 years I've lived here. I abstained from voting, though I'm eligible, as I wasn't born here and firmly believe that decision is for those that were.
that said I would have voted remain... Largely for the fear of the unknown. But the deal is done an instead of arguing over the legitimacy of the affair wouldn't it be nice if we all just made shit happen and made it work? Despite the nay sayers.. Hey if it goes pear shaped il buy you a beer but mean whiles instead or scuppering independence, give it a shot. Really, what is the worst that can happen?

  11. ok, let me put it another way. the torys are doing the negotiations, the torys are incompetent..need i say more? :upyeah::smileys:
not really no. up hear and many places around the country you just don't have to anymore. it would be like preaching to the converted. theres more chance of exe going celibate than you bumping in to a tory or ukip voter on the street. not now anyhow.

  12. sorry. I fell asleep.. No offense ...but.... We are brexiting, and as I said earlier, it's not what I think best, but we are, so get over it. Instead of arguing the toss, how bout looking to the future and finding the positive. Perhaps history will show that it was the best thing to ever happen to the uk... perhaps not...but one thing is certain, if youal spend all ya time dissecting the reasons and fighting over the past the world will pass you by. While the rest of the world maybe interested in the UK it won't be for long if you behave like a bitter used up whore. How bout a united front for fucks sake? Just my 2p between drunken snoozes'

  13. its a nice dream chiz. but it is still just a dream. :smileys:
its happening (probably) but sit back, say nothing and expect a tory government with a tiny majority and even smaller mandate to do whats right for the remaining 63% not including those that didn't bother to vote without putting up some kind of opposition to some or much of what they are trying to achieve from a brexit?. this is where it all brakes down and why we know they didnt think it through. there just isnt enough tory support to carry they're proposals through without this kind of turmoil. yip you have tory/lab/snp/lib and kipper brexitiers but there are few tory's policy supporters.
    again completely different to indireff.
look at it this way chiz. you didnt get involved yet you still needed a wee rant to get it of yer chest. why? :Finger::smileys:
    be like Nigel? no thanks.

  14. Nothing has happened as yet. There is a still an opportunity to ensure the UK gets a free trade agreement with the EU. Whilst that is still a possibility there is lots of campaigning/arguing to do. There is even a possibility that Article 50 won't ever be signed, though I think that's unlikely with such a right wing Tory Government.

In any case, I don't believe what is happening is good for Britain nor the British people so I have no intention of shutting up and getting on with it. That's surely what a democracy is about?

  15. truism. the reffs over. the politics have only just begun.

  16. Marmates may have a view on this?
Research from TaxPayers' Alliance shows an independent Scotland would have to depend on measures such as the following in order to balance the books:
    • Increasing basic rate income tax to 39 per cent
    • Doubling VAT to 40 per cent
    • Cutting health spending by 82 per cent
    • Cutting all spending on police, transport, police and agriculture
