British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. And how is my statement "untrue"?
    Is the forum not brilliant?

No doubt we will be hearing all about what 3% of the United kingdoms voters think at 10 times the volume shortly.

  2. aye, that's what happens init?. somebody says or asks something, then, boom! they get a reply. the unreasonable feckers, responding to a question or a broad sweeping statement. what they like eh? how dare they come on here and troll the trolls.
    A.W.

  3. No matter which way you play with the results the mandate is clear.
The majority stll want the UK to leave the EU on WTO terms.....
No doubt we will hear screams of "but they don't know what they were voting for" and "a single issue party"....

    Clearest..... message.... EVER!

  4. Remainers Moto GP Race result.

    Marquez.......1st place.

    Dovitsioso........2nd place.

    Rossi.......3rd place.

    2 + 3 = 5 which is 4 more than 1, so Marquez lost.

  5. From our No1 "uder the bridge dweller".....:upyeah:

  6. One could argue that the votes for Conservatives and Labour should not count if tallying up leave and remain votes as they aren't clear and therefore voters for those parties didn't know what they were voting for.

That leaves only the clear cut remain parties who don't add up to the clear cut leaves :p

  7. :D:DAre you a secret SNP supporter?
Or perhaps a Lib Dem with a Diane Abbott grasp of maths?:eyes:

  8. I see the BBC are running a story that says Farage won but actually more people voted to remain.

The people running the BBC should be sacked for pedalling fake news.

I really object to their constant spin. Even if I don’t like the truth I prefer to know it.

  9. Indeed, typical BBC - even Finm won't agree with that as the SNP had less than 40% which means indy 2 (or is it 3) is dead :joy:

  10. A whole load of assumptions made by th BBC.
Two regional parties, the Greens, change UK and the Lib Dems all against The Brexit party and UKIP. .....
    Forget UKIP.....
IMHO many who voted liberal Democrat did so as a protest against the tories and labours inability to deliver the peoples vote on Brexit...... and not as a remain vote.
If the voter wanted to send a clear message to remain, then vote change UK or SNP (if you are Scottish).

    MOST voters said "LEAVE"...... again!

  11. I think this is fair enough. I think the majority UK attitude to the EU is bonkers but then I think the way Pakistan or the US are run is bonkers - but that’s how they like it. You can’t expect people everywhere to agree with you. The Chinese like noodles for breakfast.

The only thing you can do is leave if you don’t like it and live somewhere else which is what I chose to do 30 or 40 years ago when I figured out that the U.K. was great for a holiday just so long as I didn’t have to live there on a full-time basis.

The only other thing you can do is get the entire country to leave if it doesn’t like where it’s living and this it has decided to do. Yup, that is democracy and you’ve got to respect it. I wonder what role JRM will have in Boris’s cabinet? Should be interesting.

  12. It wont surprise you that as a remainer, I know other remainers...Change UK were not voted for as they lack political clout, policies and seem a bit of a one trick pony. Also they just were not organised and coherent in their approach.
Lib Dem was the obvious choice as a remainer. Their policy of remain is obvious and stated. I dont think people were silly enough to vote for them just in protest.
Just in the same way I dont think leave voters were stupid.

  13. Anna Soubry put some epic spin on that this morning on Sky, it's actually quite breathtaking watching her talk and the people around sitting there thinking 'Does she really believe what she's saying?'

    'According To Anna'

Change UK did really well, it was the bravery of herself and her colleagues leaving the Lab/Con parties that encouraged voters to go out and vote for remain.

    Wow :eyes:

  14. Heidi Allen leader of the Twinge Spare Change Flip Flop party said earlier in the week that they were looking to joining up with the LIBS. I can't imagine why the LIBs would want them!

  15. Sky were the same this morning, Saying Remain parties got 40% of the vote and Leave parties got 35%.

They conveniently choose to ignore -
    • The Lib Dems already have a base that continued to vote for them.
    • The Greens also have the same base, that vote on issues other than Brexit.
    • The SNP will always dominate Scotland.
So they totted all that up, took it as a vote for remain and got 40%. Oh and ignored The Conservatives and Labour, who at this point are Leave parties, and a smattering of UKIP, although they got no seats, they still got votes. :D They also forgot to mention the vote is severely split, a real problem in a 1st past the post GE. :)

Sky were pushing Nigel Farage to say whether he would disband The Brexit Party in October if we leave the EU. They hate this, and the media and politicians wonder why we got what we got last night. It looks like more of the same until the next GE unless the the new PM leaves on WTO on Haloween.

  17. The BBC have decided that the “Remain” vote was bigger than the “Leave” vote, by aggregating the votes for the Lib. Dems., Greens, SNP, Plaid Cymru and Change UK.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-48403131

They are ignoring the 23.2% of voters who voted Labour or Conservative. Understandable for Labour as they have been fence sitting, but why the Conservative votes?
They are also ignoring the turnout was only 16 millions, which is good for Euro Elections where candidates may not take their seats, but is only half that of the referendum.

To me the data says Britain is still very divided, but the oft stated view that people who wanted Brexit have since “changed their minds” and now want to Remain is not demonstrated.

  18. And the fact that the Brexit party is only 6 weeks old and has a marmite leader that many leavers would not vote for, if such people were pissed off with Labour and Cons where would their vote go? It would stay at home and not bother!
And it was said last night that cry-baby remain areas had a larger turnout as is their cry-baby nature.
It looks like leave is further ahead now than ever! And so it should be :innocent:
Just a few facts for you :):upyeah:

  20. The country voted "Tory" fully expecting to get the usual shower of shite.

The country did *not* know they were voting for a Tory Party that had been working on a brand new type of "quantum-shite", literally a million times more shitty than the usual shite.

    I'm still right : o )
